Went off my friend Joses boat today with my now new dive buddies kenny and eric. we rode out of KB, conditions were bumpy but laid down. Hit reef in 30 to start, nothing home cept a bunch of big and legal grouper that wouldve been dinner if it was last month. ah well. We then hit some wrecks, I got a few almaco jacks and 2 grovers of ok size. Had some bulls come in on our chumline. We then bounced out to some wrecks in the 50-80 range, my breathholds were garbage today but I was able to get down to see the wrecks and nobody was home. Then headed to some reef off South Beach, nothing around except a fat 30 inch gag that taunted me and followed me around all day. nice day out on the water with lots of laughs though.

Got to shoot a nice gag yesterday. Thanks for the help. Unfortunately the FWC was out and held me up to check my license. I have one for Florida but not a paper copy. I didn't have a cooler with me- I was just going to take the fish to the adjacent reasturant and get them to prepare it for me. It took so long with them I gave the fish to another fisherman so it wouldn't go bad in the heat. Hopefully my next day fishing will go better. I didn't get a picture. Oh well. By the way those gags are dumb! Retreated under a rock and waited for me to shoot him in the head. Wish I could have eaten him.

Anyway thanks for the push in the right direction!

Nice job... grouper season closed new years day til may though. ;)

If I drive up to the Haulover Beach park area is the shore diving good from there north? Good in a relative term. I am just as happy diving as I am fishing on this trip because of a lack of a kitchen in the place I am staying. If I kill something I am going to have to take it to a restaurant to have it prepared. Takes alot of the fun out of it. Not saying I gonna pass up on a nice fish though.

Go WAAAAY north of there... its impossible to get into the water with a speargun in miami dade on the guarded beaches. What sucks is there is a great site called the rockpile that runs straight out from haulover nude beach that is easy to navigate and holds fish but ive only been able to hit it by boat.. Meade street in hollywood is a good place to try out, its not stellar but you never know what youll find, theres reef and a boulder pile there.

Dude if you kill something just give me a shout, you can bring it by my place n use my kitchen. Got a cleaning table downstairs too.

Lookin at mid 70s right now. Id say id be free for a dive but the girlfriend gets back into town sunday night and I wont be leaving my place for a good 2 days... maybe next friday if conditions allow.

Boat drew? Any room? I know Ben and I and my buddy would help on gas and etc.

I think the boats full... I volunteered to drive most of the day while the guys do some drifts in the blue. Ill check for ya though. I need to get the ball rolling with that zodiac my friend has.... and also going to see tomorrow if one of the boats i clean at me and nate's place could possibly be used.

Never mind, it's a tracking device. Makes me wonder if it can cause problems for the manatee, getting caught up in logs or something.

Ive seen several with the tracking buoys attached to them. I counted 10 there alone and there was one that used to stop by the sailing beach in the St Lucie River at the resort I worked at up there. I dont think it causes too many problems for them in terms of entanglement.
