Awesome thread! I was thinking about doing a combination black bear hunt and halibut/salmon trip to Alaska. A moose or caribou hunt would be amazing too! I have eaten bear chili and but never steak. Do you recommend any outfitters for such a trip?

I don't get to dive Mendocino county very often but I know we have a few members from up north on this board. I always prefer diving with a buddy so if you are available send me a text or call (6two6 two64 O18two). I am hoping to pick some abalone and get some rock fish and am contemplating a Salmon (H&L of course) trip out of the area, bite pending. If your in Los Angeles visiting I don't mind returning the favor. Anyway just booked my cabin the other day and I am excited to relax after an exhausting summer in class and hopefully come home with some fresh sea food that only NorCal can offer.

I am heading out tomorrow morning from LA to Mendocino. If you want to join me for a dive that would be great. Here are a few pictures from previous trips this year and last years abalone dive. Dive safe. Alex

Some fresh tomato sauce, pasta and abalone.

A couple of the abs before the noodles

A night dive resulted in a little Diamond Turbot out of Long Beach

Some guitar fish fillets in the back with a sheephead and a sand bass

My Mexican trigger fish. lol Only catch while I was in Cancun but it was delicious.

My first yellowtail and bonita at cortez banks about a year ago exactly.

Hey TreeBilly3 can out of state fisherman spearfish salmon in Alaska? I remember reading that only natives could live net them and wasn't sure if that also covered spearfishing? Love seeing your videos and pictures. A buddy of mine is in Seward working at the cannery and I have been thinking about going out there for a trip.

You can still hunt Lings in July. Going to try to dive on Wednesday in Fort Bragg, watching water conditions.

I looked up your location, Long drive up here.

Yeah its a long drive but I try to make it at least once a year. Found a cool spot to stay at in Fort Bragg and have done some camping in Mendocino area. Really gorgeous country up there. I just never seem to find much in regards to game fish in the area. Mostly rainbow perch and kelp fish. If I am lucky I get cabezon and black rockfish. Good luck on your dive. :thumbsup2:

I purchased an Ulusub from a dive buddy off an other forum and have enjoyed diving with it for about a year and a half now. Oddly the wooden plug covering the balast started to push out a little. I emailed Jon about it and after a few messages back and forth I sent the gun in to him. I had asked Jon if he could add a magnet in the ballast portion to help with loading and he was more then happy to do so. I was expecting a bill or something for the magnet but instead I was blown away. He sent the gun back with new thicker bands and included the old ones. He refinished the entire gun with a epoxy and linear polyurethane, opened up the line release a little more as it was a little tight, he also included a new threaded shaft and re did the ballast with the magnet. I was not expecting any of this but I am super grateful! Amazing service. He even sent the gun back to me within a week of me sending it out. Super fast turn around time. Thanks Jon!!! Now I need to get some fresh blood on it.
