Like I said, I'm not sure how consistent the vis is. The 57 sounds like a great gun to bring though. If I were you, I would also bring the 40 just in case.

I dove there a few weeks ago with my Wong 42in Hybrid. If I knew how good the vis was going to be (20-30 feet), I would've brought something a little bigger. Ideally, I would have used a 110cm euro or my 55in GR Hybrid. Not sure how consistent the vis is though, so I would bring 2 guns to cover both good and bad vis.
What guns do you have?

I got a chance to play with the Mares Viper Pro at the local dive shop. To be honest, I wasn't very impressed with it. The handle was too slim to comfortably hold the gun, but you may think differently.
Btw, Dan has a new aluminum railgun that looks interesting and is priced right. I wouldn't mind giving that gun a try.

Thanks Makoa. I'll shoot him an email about that

Hey guys, if you have a Wong Hybrid 55-60 you're willing to part with, let me know. I'm looking to buy a few new guns and this one is on my list. If I can't find one soon, I'll get in contact with Daryl. Send me an email at david.zhang0392@gmail.com if you have anything :thumbsup2:

I'm currently in UT, not sure if I want to sell it outright but make me an offer. Maybe we can work something out. I've had a few decent trade and cash offers but I'm looking specifically for a used custom gun, such as a wong 55-60, herranen euro, Ulusub etc.

I should be getting an Abellan Denton 120 in a few weeks so I have a new Sporasub One 105cm that I want to trade for something different. It is rigged with a 7mm 140cm RA pinned shaft and wishbone, so it is ready for some big fish and the wishbone won't scratch up the barrel. I used it once in the pool for some target practice and it is spot on... a beautiful gun. I'll include everything that came with the gun + a Sporasub gun bag.
I'm looking for a used custom gun and will add cash on top of the trade if necessary, so tell me if you're interested! :thumbsup2:

That looks like your website Dan! :nono: Doesn't look like it worked out though
-
Why don't you just try to trade it?
Many people starts with a short gun and wants to upgrade to a longer one. You should find someone.
Very good advice right here ^^^
Although I wouldn't trade my RA 90 for any other gun in the world. It's weird how we grow personal attachments to the guns we own

Some more miscellaneous gear for sale. I have a Sporasub One gun bag which has been never used. The wishbones are by Sporasub One and Salvimar. I was going to use them on a project gun in Australia but never got the chance.
The Sporasub wishbones alone retail for $22.
ONE WISHBONES, Sporasub Spearfishing and Freediving Equipment
I'm asking $35 for everything shipped in the U.S.

Hey guys,
I have for sale, a brand new Rob Allen 130 Vecta 2 Railgun with open muzzle. It's just been sitting in my room. Cheapest I found the gun without reel was $280 so I would like to get $240 shipped in the U.S. I'll sell the gun with the reel + 213 feet of Mako 1.75mm dyneema for $350 shipped. Please post here or send me an email at zhangd94@hotmail.com if you're interested.
Thanks,
David -
I second an RA for the reef. It shoots 2x16mm rubbers and a 7-7.5mm shaft very accurately. Then again, almost any good railgun nowadays can do the same thing. I just prefer the feel of the RA in the water. If you have the money and want to own a hybrid, then by all means buy one and post up some photos
I haven't been too happy with the Riffe Euro so I have changed back to my Rob Allens as they are so simply, yet so effective. My 90 and 130 cover everything I'm looking to spear. If I were to buy a wooden euro, I'd without a doubt look into the Abellan Denton 120 or one of these beauties:
-
I've used RA, Omer, Sporasub, Beuchat, Picasso, Aimrite and Riffe. I prefer the RA over all of them. Built to last and kills fish. I wouldn't be comfortable using a Mako because I've heard of too many handles cracking. It's also odd that a lot of the used makos for sale have rust on the triggers... does that mean theres rust in the mech too?
To be fair, I have never used the Speardiver gun, but I would like to try one some day.
-
I love the euro handle paired with the wooden barrel. Did you say you were going to shoot it with 1x19mm rubber and 1x16mm rubber? If so, is there any ballast in it?
-
Luckily I've gone through this scenario in my head. If I can't get my knife out quick and cut the line past the muzzle, I'm letting go. Not risking my life horsing up a 70+ lb fish. It's just a fish and a gun. Both replaceable. I live to dive another day. What a great example. Thanks for sharing mate.

Thanks for the pics Dan.

Dan, do you know if an Omer Cayman handle fits into the speardiver carbon barrel without modification? I tried looking for the Omer measurements online but couldn't find them. I know it's a long shot but if it does, I may be interested in a 130 barrel
-
Dude george, did you purposely ask for the trigger mech to be placed directly on top of the handle for easier hip loading or is that how they're made? Does John make a true midhandle gun with the trigger mech located at the very back of the gun?
