just wanted to let you fellow belizeans know. i talked to SEA. long story short, they sent a sample of the meat and blood to a laboratory in belize city will know by the end of the week what it was.
thanks for your advise guys i gave the neighbors cat some of the snapper and it seams fine, actually i am eating it right now  will let you know tomorrow if i survived.
i caught the barracuda south of sapodillo cay and the funny thing is i had caught plenty of barracuda from there before, the cats never acted like that and i never got sick.
anyways i would advise you guys to get your self a cat and let them test eat your fish first
forgot to mention that i had the cats owners consent

i caught a snapper and barracuda today. as always i feed both of my cats with the filleting left overs which there very grateful for . so after everything has been filleted i put the snapper and the barracuda fillets in a bowl and in to the fridge.
now half an hour later one of the cats started to convulse and vomit and soon after the second one showed the same symptoms. i only fed them the barracuda, so something has to be wrong with it maybe cig or something.
so my question is, is the snapper still safe to eat although it came in contact with the barracuda? i would have tried to feed them the snapper, but they wouldn't touch it anymore.
the barracuda was 25lbs and the snapper was 9lbs.
a lot of locals in the village eat barracuda but nobody has fallen ill yet :confused1:
i decided to leave the gun as is for the moment.
have you guys seen this post on spear board? Carbon/timber guns (warning photo heavy) - Spearboard bubble blowers drama forum
that is going to be my next project
What kind wood you did use in between laminated. Look like teak. Is it?
the middle is barbalote the outside and the handle are rosewood.
the stock is simply too thin for its length and band load . adding carbon top and bottom will stiffen it but will change the look .
phil
i do not think i will be able to get good carbon fibre here. do you think it would work with fiberglass, got some 6oz cloth left from my canoe build.
here are some pictures
i have build a 6 vertical laminated hard wood gun. been using it for a couple of months now with no problems but on my last dive i noticed that the barrel slightly bends maybe 1-2mm. the gun is 63 inch long (butt to muzzle), 2x 5/8 bands and shoots a 1/4inch shaft.
is it something to worry about? what would be the best way to stiffen it?
Hi my name is tom live in Belize, Placencia and been spearfishing since 2 years. my very first gun was a JBL Carbine but started to build my own wooden ones after the gun misfired a couple of times. i mostly do shore dives and occasionally go out with my canoe. i do not have a boat but would love to make some boat friends :D.
