Had the chance to travel to Panama about a month ago and managed to shoot a couple nice fish. My Speardiver wetsuit is still going strong!

about two weeks a go i had an appoitment with my cadiolgist. His wife is filipino and he know i go spear fishing to the philippines quite often he asked when are you going back. I said I was waiting untill I got a little stronger . I am still recovering form my last stroke in september. He said the the window is closing. I remarked you don't think it's a good I dea until I feel a little stronger. He again quiped the window is closing. I took it mean it's now or never. So when is to old to go spearfishing ..when you are dead is my new position on that account. I am now 71 I have had six hearth attacks and five strokes in the past 8 years. So covid doesn't scare me nothing can kill me. I would rather die down 45 feet chasing a spanish mackerl than on tha coach watching Judge Judy. So I am gearing up for a return visit in the next three months.

Everything before the shot.

It looks so easy when you stone a fish like this, but is not.
Mares won't stop manufacturing pneumatics. Hahaha! Let's see what they come with...

Yeah. I don't know what happened to him. He's not a newbie...

Nice catch, Camposartu.
I lived in Puerto Rico several years and got ciguatera (4 times!) there. There are parts of the Island where ciguatera is more present than others. The East coast is the worst.
The only test that actually works is what Dan told you; eat a small piece and is you feel "weird", throw the fish away. I know that Yellow jack can be prone to get cig in the Caribbean, while here in Florida it is safe to eat.
For the records, I got ciguatera there with barracuda (small), hogfish, king mackerel and amberjack.

I've used Speardiver wetsuits and they are very comfortable and durable: I had one for almost 5 years using it twice a week and it held very well. The Mako seal thing is pure marketing. As Dan said, the open cell itself does the sealing.
Last but not least, Yamamoto 39 is the cheap version of Yamamoto. It compresses quite fast. My recommendation between those two would be a Speardiver Wetsuit.
Keep in mind that you'll need some lube to put on your open cell wetsuit. But that's not a problem. You'll get used to it and it must be done just once, because the wetsuit is so comfortable that you don't need to take it off until you are done diving.

I'm glad you're back Don!
Post some pics when you get something worth it.

Wow! I don't know if I could spearfish with that thing hanging around...
Did you hit the water yet Don?
