Thanks Virgili! I'm using the stock shaft and the gun is pumped to 23 Bar.

Working out is always good for you.

You could benefit from using a longer gun than a Riffe competitor 2.
What he said.
A Riffe C2 is for murky water and short shots.

My RA roller shoot identically as a standard RA. They only noticeable difference is the lack of recoil. I didn't need any adaptation process to it.
BTW, why welding a rest tab to something that must be loaded using an extension? That makes no sense to me.

Honestly speaking, I would get another gun for those fish. A 110 Euro would do the job.

Loved the videos and the music! Keep 'em coming!

Do you spearfish in the Mediterranean without a wetsuit? Most (if not all) spearfishing wetsuits have chest pad for loading. If not, a mouse pad glued to whatever you wear as a top would work.
If I were going to change something to that speargun, that would be the shaft. Get a tahitian shaft and leave the bands as they are. You will probably end up changing them by stronger ones when you learn how to load.
Gloves are a must. Otherwise you'll hurt your fingers.
-
Probably that's the whole problem with your gun.
-
I use mostly 7 mm as for me is a good compromise of weight and speed. Additionally, most spearguns come balanced for 7 mm. It is a PITA to carry a gun that is not well balanced.
Less that that is not for our fish and 8 mm or more has its uses with big fish or bluewater, but not my day-to-day spearfishing.

I don't know in percentage, but is shorter than the original RA setup since I have cut the bands a couple times where they wear most (at the wishbone knot).
Mine shots dead on. There must be something wrong with your gun....
Are you using notched or pinned shafts? Mine uses notched.

Nice post!

Last week I went to a spearfishing/freediving store and there was this fat guy, with cigarrette smell teaching me how to drop my weight belt and which fins should I wear.
My son Alessandro was with me and he was laughting his shit out of him when we left the store.
I was serious listening to all his advices...
These courses probably are good for beginers, but I have my doubts. They put someone without any experience to dive to 70'-80' in one weekend if they are phisically fit. That's extremely dangerous.
I remeber some time ago, I was interested in taking an "Advanced freediving level 3 or something course"- They didn't let me do so because I had to take the previous courses.
After asking them to do me some tests to see if I was "elegible" for the advanced course as I can dive consistently to 80' and meven more, they didn't want to. Screw them!
I only hope that it wont become mandatory to have a certification as you said. I know very few freedivers/spearfishermen with more experience/skills than me. Without any modesty.
But you can always learn something.

Well, I have to say that I have one of the first prototypes rollerguns Rob Allen made. It's a 110 carbon. And I absolutely love that thing! I bought it directly from a South African that came to Panama for tunas. And he got a 100 pounder with it!
I would say, it has some more power than a twin banded 110 but without noticeable recoil, which in my opinion makes it more accurate. I made a loader myself (I also lost the original one) but when is time to change the bands, I'll put a double wishbone with one being longer than the other. That's how I rig the other rollers I have and I load them faster than a double banded.
I have a chronic wirst injury and shooting a powerful standard band speargun is very painful to me. Now I prefer to use either pneumatics or rollers.
Here's that gun in action:

If you're going to shoot wahoos, get a float and a floatline. Better if you have a bungie. Otherwise, you'll loose half (if not more) of them.
I would take off that muzzle bungie. It's worthless if using a reel and one more thing to fail.
Sexy looking gun.

Show us a picture of the speargun shaft showing the sharfins. I'm pretty sure that there's the problem.

Hi,
If you post a couple pictures would be easier to help you. Which shaft are you using? Notches or sharkfins?

I don't like two wraps. I don't think they bring anything positive. At least not in a non-bluewater gun. A 130 with a single wrap has a reach of +/-6 meters. I don't think I can hit anything that far.
Additionally, when you shot a snapper or a grouper, chances that it will hole with double wrap are almost 100%. I've tried in the past and got back to single wrap.
Regarding the video, it was like 5 years ago in Venezuela. We all had Speardiver wetsuits and I filmed Franco shooting a small Almaco Jack with his Bucanero. I bought it in Spain. I changed the bands though.

You can find good cheap used gear in Europe. I would take that direction...

A USA made speargun from Greece...
My Son Franco had one and he liked it. Actually is the one he shots in the Speardiver Wetsuits video.
