seems like a great idea Mike, what would be awesome would be an adjustable one that coulds be moved on the fly.
Yeah. you could probably put one on a track.

I like the extra shooting line for fish that sound and tie up near the bottom. It means I will have more float line on the surface. If your worried about a tangle try moving the line guide down the stock away from the muzzle.
Mike
I have been considering getting a scuba cert for safety reasons. Fish recovery or god forbid a body recovery. Not really interested in pursuing fish. Its already like shooting fish in a barrel here in So CAl..
Mike
I borrowed a 130. Will do some testing when the conditions improve. Hopefully the fish will cooperate.
Mike
Thanks for the info.
Mike
Thanks,
Are any manufactures better then others? I am not interested in Mako.
Mike
I want to put together a eurogun for local pelagics. YT and Bonita. 6-30lb fish. 10-20ft shots. I have some teak guns with accuracy and range but I hate lugging them up and down the hills. What size euro, shaft and band configuration is best?
Mike
I've seen a few floatline that are 3/8 polypro in a 1/2 inch PVC sleeve. The PVC would help it pull through the kelp better. A few guys were making these back in the mid 90's around PV. I don't recall if they were plugging the ends or just making a figure eight at the ends.I have not seen one for a long time but was thinking about putting one together.
Mike
Don,
Its been a few years since I used polypro. The tube style seems to pull through heavy kelp a lot easier. Particularly on a low tide where the canopy is super thick. Other then that I think your points are right on. They can be a PITA.
Mike
RIP. Good points Don.
Few more. The jelly was interesting because the way the sun was hitting it it looked like it had a lightbulb inside it. After a winter of 3-10 foot vis it was a great day to be in the water. I think a jumped in at 9am and it was almost 4pm when i got out. I found reefs and structure that i never new existed.
Mike
I caught a really special day of diving a few weeks ago. Top to bottom 50+ feet of vis in the kelp right off the coast. The currents pushed in some blue water and a nice variety of fish. That was the good news. The bad news was I left the house with a short gun and came home empty handed. Anyhow, I snapped a few pics.
Dive safe,
Mike
Welcome. Great videos!
Mike
Managed to gather a few shrooms this week. Very low humidity has them drying up. I am guessing this was my season ender.
Mike
wheres that from the glass church or whites point, its been awhile since Ive been down that way? you know,in case I go down that way:D
Its about a hundred yards SE of the Wayfarers Chapel. Have fun.
OK Mike, I've been doing allot of baseball with my kid on weekends, any WSB story's.;) did you shoot one in the face with the Riffi'e black, length impaired Steely Dan?
Cheers, Don
PS Never mind, intel it was a 10lber from OC. My guns will be back together in one more week, we should
hill dive.
I don't use that MT0 for wsb. Halibut only. Let me know when you want to dive. I generally dive early in the week and rarely on the weekends.
You could have lied I know the spot I think? 25 years ago I swam to the beach and fell asleep for a few hrs. (hang over) and when I woke up I was surrounded with a dozen ''guys'on beach towels' in speedo's and no chicks. They were cool, and I thought I might start my long swim North to my car.
Cheers, Don
Funny. I think that's Smugglers Cove. AKA bonesmokers. Ironically, it can be an epic dive when it cleans up. My encounter was actual along the San Pedro coast. Known for dead bodies and now lesbians.
Mike
Yeah. After drooling in the water for 15-20 minutes I finally got up enough nerve to to ask for a beer. Man did that hit the spot. Ice friggen cold!
Mike
I hate to ruin the fantasy, but these ladies were no porn stars. It was more reminiscent of an elephant seal haul out.
Two lesbians 69'ing it in a secluded cove with a twelve pack of Bud Light next to them.
I know most mycologists frown on using water to clean shrooms... but chantrelles are so dirty, that sometimes it's just easier to wash parts off. My mushroom mentor taught me (& supplied me) with wax paper sandwich bags to individually bag each one before packing. Keeps the root dirt off the caps of others & from spreading much.
Eaten before freezing comes into the equation.
My last project was to preserve them via Thomas Keller's recipe for "Mushroom Conserva". Basically sauteed/preserved in olive oil with a bit of chili pepper & vinegar for acidity.
Thanks for the tip. I'll track down some bags for next season.
