I remember some of those tips back in the day, I mean the ones in the actual pics with the spearguns... I really think tri cuts are best for tough hide fishes such as cuberas or groupers... You may take advantage of the higlhy penetrating design to bust a grouper's head, superior to a pencil point, which is better for soft fleshed quarry IMO. Great stuff man, I'd like to try one of those...

Si amigo Monster, esas captura vale la pena ver así el agua este sucia.
Es un 100cm? Que longitud tiene la flecha?
Saludos, José.
It's a 100 cm and the shaft is 1.20 man, the watwr was so green an murky that only shades were possible to outline

You even mounted the gopro on the roller. Do we have videos to look forward to?
It's my first time ever with a gopro , but I have a shirt one... Could you please guide me on how to download it here?

Nah... You're doing great!

Nice muttons brother , air guns look as a very good option, then again as good shot as you are probably the gun Is the less important factor in the equation

So, I'm finally digging the shorter version of the roller, Its just a bit more difficult to load than a standard railgun, but is very accurate and it has little recoil, so I'm using it with relative success.
The water was so murky, and decided to get the shorter roller instead of the larger gun, so Iwent down to check up a cave when I could watch the outline of three big shadows right at the entrance of it, with my heart pounding I realized that those were three nice sized cuberas just mingling outside the deep cave , I lined up, but they guessed my intentions and tried to get cover inside the tepetate, so I switched the target at the last moment and whacked the little one... I guess one lil pargo is better than none.
Another one bites the sand with the RA roller...
Thank you for your attention

here Marco, the 100cm rollergun is much better
-
great vid Marco, I liked the shorther roller better myself.
Awesome times among friends

There's no point on having a butt extension that doesn't amounts to band stretch and/or overall gun performance IMO. Competitor series are streamlined and light enough to get the job done. I think you'll love it just the way it is... Is like they say ... " If ain't broke, don't fix it" ...

May he rest in peace

So cool indeed...

The three of them were stoned by the way

I was using a RA rollergun in a 130 length and it sucked buoys, it was shooting low and missing a lot, so I decided to switch the roller head to a shorter 1000 RA railgun that I have; the change was noticeable, indeed ... long story short .... I liked it very much, so easy to load and very accurate... Pargos around here are very skittish because there are lots of divers trying to make fish tacos out of them, so they weren't cooperative, but still they fell under my axe...
I have a new favorite speargun dubbed by some friends " la depre" ... " La depredadora"
( a pun, in spanish the statement " te pego la depre" means : "you was hit by depression", but also "predator" is Depredador" , so "they were hit by the (she) predator) jaja

You'll be fine! You'll heal in a couple of weeks or so... Get better soon and resume spearfishing
-
I don't know in percentage, but is shorter than the original RA setup since I have cut the bands a couple times where they wear most (at the wishbone knot).
Mine shots dead on. There must be something wrong with your gun....
Are you using notched or pinned shafts? Mine uses notched.
Marco, I really appreciate your input , they welded an aftermarket rest tab right in the middle of the shaft , which is huge, probably that thing " Bumps" right at the muzzle or something. The shaft is notched by the way...

Well, I have to say that I have one of the first prototypes rollerguns Rob Allen made. It's a 110 carbon. And I absolutely love that thing! I bought it directly from a South African that came to Panama for tunas. And he got a 100 pounder with it!
I would say, it has some more power than a twin banded 110 but without noticeable recoil, which in my opinion makes it more accurate. I made a loader myself (I also lost the original one) but when is time to change the bands, I'll put a double wishbone with one being longer than the other. That's how I rig the other rollers I have and I load them faster than a double banded.
I have a chronic wirst injury and shooting a powerful standard band speargun is very painful to me. Now I prefer to use either pneumatics or rollers.
Here's that gun in action:
Marco, I think the longer rollers are not as efficient, mine shoots way too low , even at short distances, but I'm going to switch the roller set up into a shorter gun to see if I improve my luck with it.
What is your band pretension by the way?
-
Was that a Phillips before your good intentions?
Jajajaj yes it was...

I'm doing something wrong... for some reason I cannot quote, It doesn't work when I try to " insert all quotes" I
-
Absolutely! The reel is intended for in shore aplications, thanks a lot for your advice.

Today I lost several fishes and missed a lot more with the 130 roller, that's it, I wanted to change the configuration so I could save/recover something from my original investment ... But...To top it off, Rob Allen factory put the screw on the roller head so tight, that is impossible to unscrew it without the use of a vice or power tools. That's a shame because I f...ng hate the 130 and I wanted to switch heads with my other RA. But they do it in a way that is impossible to achieve with regular tools, so you cannot use their precious "prototype " ... I think RA is betraying with this their "user friendliness " , which was the flagship of their company.
Great! Now I should spend even more money just to switch the head and use it the way me a customer wants...
