This post is mostly intended for the baby boomer generation (like me) who are by now, ripe enough!

I found the very first french speargun my Dad had given me for my 13th. birthday. It sure brought back alot of memories It was a Champion/Cavalero Arbalete aluminum two rubber bands.
Some time latter he upgraded me to a Tarzan 4 rubbers. I had it made!

I have always wondered... those were relatively primitive guns, our fins were short, uncomfortable as well as out round masks with a metal circle, no equalization possibilities except finding the way around under your nose as you could! Would you believe I dove with a hard aluminum snorkel?:(

And we dove, and speared fish of all kinds! These days we must expend a fortune in all those geeky looking, high tech, state of the art gear..

Come on Rick, give it up

Really, don't you already know?;) Who said: "You can fool part of the People some of the time, you can't fool all of the people all of the time...? A.L.:thumbsup2:

    it could be 4 things.

    1. seac changed their name to Persistent
    2. A new company came and picked him up
    3. A new company bought seac

    4. i dont know?

Warm...warmer...warmer...keep at it. you're so close!!!!!

Having read all the posts and replies here I go, and please, bear with me...

1.-Each Team must bring a Commissioner of their own who must be SWITCHED among boats of a different competitor's team.:confused1:

2.-Each Team boat has to be supplied with 3 metal (two for the personal weighting and 1 for the other non competing pieces) or wire fish stringers identified by a numbered plaque. Each number corresponds to a different team but the identity is ONLY known by the organizers. Once each team has chosen which pieces are going to be weighted in the opposing Commissioner seals shut the metal wire via a nylon color coded "tie-wrap" and deliver the package (randomly placed among others) to the weighting station.:angry5:

3.-Each team's boat must have a clearly identifiable FLAG (24 X 24") issued by organizer before leaving port. Flag is to be placed right under or beside main boat's "DIVER BELOW" FLAG so each competitor boat can be identified and randomly inspected by a team of unmarked organizer's vessels at any moment.:cool2:

4.-Of course ONE`SINGLE GPS for each boat has to be OBLIGATORY and in case of any complaint or discrepancy must be rendered for inspection by judges. Denial to accept this signifies immediate disqualification.:nono:

5.- The "open area" MUST have some sort of demarcation. For issuance 20 nautical miles both north and south of the departing marina, of course, fish heavens or park intrusion will constitute IMMEDIATE disqualification .Non strict observance of regulation's sizes or bag limitation would be disqualifying factor too.

And there are other preventive and deterrent countermeasures, but I prefer NOT to share them inhere, (sorry guys...!) IF, I nevertheless participate ...I think.. the organizers will be on top of them. :laughing3:

Don't hate me guys, I'm only the...what am I? I'll get back to you on that one. Bye, bye...!:thumbsup2:

:( Permanent fishing prohibition in the works.
Well, it looks that this thing is gaining momentum... I'm pasting here what I received yesterday in my mail. Just to let you guys be aware of what's cooking, and at least try to do something about it..or not:nono:

    Dear fisher person/spear diver:

The South Atlantic Fisheries Management Council (SAFMC) has now made majorclosures of snapper and grouper fisheries and has a proposal for a totalclosure of snapper for an undetermined amount of time, as well as a proposalto stop all bottom fishing because of the potential that a snapper may be
killed as by catch. The areas affected run from the Carolina to Key West and similar restrictions are being enacted in the Gulf.

In a cooperative effort the following clubs and organizations have joined forces to fight current and potential fishery closures dictated by the SAFMC as ell as demand the science used to enact those closures be examined and fixed. >

Our members have fished and dived along the Florida East coast areas for many years and maintain a first hand knowledge of the health of the fishery. To be honest- where it was in decline 20 years ago, the current restrictions for minimum size and catch have worked to point where we believe the red
snapper stock is healthier than it has been at any time in the last 25 years.

We contest the data being presented that shows the fishery to be in decline as being significantly flawed. And to be honest, as sportsmen, if we felt that the fishery was in trouble as we did many years ago, we would advocate new restrictions. These draconian measures are already having a catastrophic
economical snowball effect in the State of Florida, from tourism dollars, to tackle and bait shops to charter Captains along with a degradation in the historical way of life for all involved.

But the biggest impact will be to our way of life as citizens of this country and what we support as our right to be able to go out and fish, have a good time and eat what we catch in a reasonable recreational sustainable fishery.
The petition calls for Congress to pass legislation to restrict the Commerce Department from enacting any further closures in the South Atlantic Region, and rescind the current interim closure of Red Snapper until
fisheries managers improve the MRFSS system (data collection) and it passes a peer review.

WHAT can you do to help:

Go to this website- read the information and sign the electronic petition.

FORWARD this mail to everyone that you know and ask them to do the same.Open the attachment- print it and share with others.

We appreciate you taking the time to read this, making an informed decision to sign the petition and passing it along to others that feel the same way.

    Sincerely,

:(Very sad to see how thousands of fish had perished because of the extremely low temperatures we have being sustaining for quite a long, if yet intermittent, period.:confused1:

Now we see the news of about 250 manatees (all the way from Biscayne Bay down to Key West) that died because of hypothermia. The marine biologist on TV explained that they become lethargic, sink and are unable to float back to the surface in order to breath!:@

Like if that wasn't enough, the coral reefs have also been severely damaged by those same extremely low temperatures. And tomorrow, Thursday 25, we have yet another cold front coming in! In my local waters 3mm wet suit used to be enough...no any more!:sad2:

Rethinking very seriously my ping pong affection...:laughing2:
