damnt as a polespear advocate my gears have begun turning again... How does the pvc hold up against impact and saltwater??? our sprinkler pipes here are pvc pipes sticking out into canals and I know with sun/water they get very brittle.

I came across this site http://www.mgs4u.com/fiberglass-tube-rod.htm they make fiberglass tubes mostly for antenna apps. with lots of diameters available. I might have to try my hand at a fiberglass polespear now.

i dive weight-less(my gear is about 3 pounds, no wetsuit just boardshorts) right now because thats the way I learned it and didnt have weights/belt. with POS fins I was doing 50' easily, im going to try unweighted and weighted this week in the keys and see what results I come up with. as a frequent beachdiver I try to keep gear to a minimum.

dont know about on the west coast but here in ft. lauderdale beach diving is always a possibility although not typically as productive or fun it still gets me by.

so people pay to go do that????? for anyone that wants to practice laying face down in a pool for a 6pack ill supervise and drink beer while you hold your breath in my pool. max capacity is 10, peeing not allowed. seriously id want a refund. While I think that may help individuals know there breathold limits, it doesnt make me feel any more comfortable while im swimming around 40+' when pressure and movement are working against you. I think practice makes perfect and in a spearfishing application the best way to improve ones abilities is to go spearfishing. Oh and there at an indoor pool why are they wearing wetsuits???? is there a thermocline somewhere between there shoulder blades and nipples???

dan thats just not fair you know telling people not to is like daring us to do it and were gunna. what you should have said was "unless your :hi: you shouldnt click it" then I would have listened...

this weather is ridiculous my family had to postpone our snorkel trip to the keys tomorrow because of the wind, I was really excited because it would have been my first time testing out my new pursuit c90s. hopefully sunday will be a good day for there maiden voyage

dan that was just disturbing, I advise nobody to click that. about the censorship thing I can see it being an unwritten rule type of deal I rarely us the f word in typing but stuff happens. the whole cencorship thing is a touchy subject... dans vintage picture under his name comes to mind, I personally like it and think its very cool but anywhere he posts will show nudity. I wouldnt even care if cuss words came up like **** most of us are capable of figuring out what someone was trying to say based on the context, however a child wouldnt and would just see ****. just my:twocents:

Those are the exact same fins I got from Dan and they do make the difference. I'm not a deep diver but I do cover a lot of ground sometimes swimming against current. With my old fins ( cressi garas ) after a few hours I could feel some disconfort in my ankles and calves but I've used the pursuits up to 5 hours straight sometimes against current (and actually making progress) and up to 8 hours on a diving day and there are no disconfort whatsoever. The only thing I did to the knive was to grind the point for better penetration for braining fish. Real good gear at a good price.

I did the same thing to my knife.

Only update I have is that my trip to the keys tomorrow has been postponed because of this ridiculus wind, hopefully next week will be better:pray:

I know the spot very well, ;) I used to camp with the ponga guys near the fish camp on the point. One year one of the girls
didn't follow by advice to stay on the path and keep her eyes open for rattlers. She took a short cut back from the cove to the jeep and got bit on the thigh. F'ed up out dive weekend when we rushed her back to San Diego, I volunteered to suck out the venom on the ride back.^^
    Cheers, Don

That blows, but I know how she feels I got bit in the calf by a 6 footer when I used to live in colorado... Not a fun experience at all.

see if you can rally up some texas indigos, theres no real way to remove the snakes without killing them or relocating them. If you can wrangle up some texas indigos theyll eat the other snakes and they arent poisonous or dangerous. they grow to about 8 feet so anything under say 4 ft is food. rattlesnake meat tastes good if any are big enough to eat.

    As promised:

Old gear - US Divers fins and old wenoka knife my grandpa gave me (from the 70's I believe) its still sharp enough to shave with.

    New gear -

    Comparisons -

The old rambo knife is great it just doesn't have the right shape for braining fish. The fins will get there first taste of saltwater on thursday^^

ok so the end piece has been tapped, and I shaped/tapered both ends. Welding should get done this weekend and next week it will hopefully get its first uses. Here she is with a 30" tip making her ~9':

also dont know if anyone here is familiar with searchtempest.com but it is a craigslist search tool that allows you to search CL based on a distance from your zip code. hope this helps
