  • Saw a group of divers take a limit of undersized bugs last night in Laguna

    Still on the same theme but a different country. While sailing in the northern Sea of Cortez I had an encounter with a 60' motor sailor that was spearing large numbers of grouper and pargo at night on scuba. He has huge freezer capacity and was freezing the fish in large numbers. I Confronted him first on the ethical issues of doing this. He did not agree with me. I then explained the Mexican fish and game regulations as I understood them and he said screw off. We were both on vessels 100 miles from the nearest port. I did not know where to go from there. The worst part is he is still there and plans to stay in the Sea of Cortez. Anyone have suggestions on what to do? I will be back around him and his boat in 3 months.

    Nice barred pargo. Monsterslayer I tried to PM you but could not. I will be in Baja Sur for the next 5 weeks I plan to hit Ceralvo and Muertos could you PM me with any other places you would suggest.

    No old lady to kick me out. I guess I'm not around enough to get one. Any one that is interested let me know. Any info on current Thetis logistics ( as in hiring a Panga) would be very welcome.

    For the next six weeks I will be diving and surfing Baja. I drive down on the 5 of October. Is any one up for flying down for a few days at Cerralvo or a few days or more In Asuncion or Mag bay. I am flexible on timing. I plan to dive both Pacific and Cortez sides. I have a good dive kayak but plan to do a lot of Panga trips. Any leads on good panga captains would be appreciated.

    I have been spear fishing off and on for the last 8 years or so. I just returned from a 7 month sailing trip In the Sea of Cortes where I was in the water free diving and spearing most days. I will be back down on my boat in October and am looking for people to dive and spearfish with. I have not hunted california before and would also like to meet some local spearos to get out near San Francisco where I live. Thanks for such a great forum.
