had some really great footage of big whales, sardine balls with tuna, swords and sails all hitting it, then a minke whale charges in,,, pretty wild/QUOTE]
yes. I have also seen that before. I hope it's something new and not the same old footage. -
I had it all wrong about the "only playing for a day thing". . .
I guess my information 6 months ago was faulty.
Well just a friendly reminder the movie is playing now.

Really? Go to the nearest dive store specializing in freediving gear, grab any of those $500 new durable carbon fins (which ones are they exactly?), walk up to the counter with it and stand in front of shop owner, then bend them like I do mine touching the front edge to the back, or put them on the floor and walk on them with your shoes, let me know if you had enough time to hear snap crackle pop before the shop owner tackled you..
Yeah, try it with C4's its scary how they make that cracking sound.

Larry and Dan-that is a good tip about the thinner mono. I would love to give it a try, but you can just PM me the name and I 'll grab some rather than make you part with any.
Its called Offshore Angler Extreme 400# 1.8mm
I think I got it at BassPro.Also maybe trying some 300# mono. I believe theres no need for 400# mono as long as you check your line often.
I keeo opening up this thread, the gun looks awesome.

LB,
The 400# mono you tried is 2.5mm?
I have some 400# thats thinner then the momoi line. Its 2.0 from spearitco.com
I'll send you some if you want to try it.

Bigger is better. If Dan made 130s I would probabally have a pair:crazy: I normally dive with DiveRs. I like them a lot too but these new carbon fins are like not wearing anything at all. Light and powerful. Me likey!!
Can't wait to hear a report after use and how the stiffness rating of the carbon is compared to the DiveR.
I also use DiveR medium. I was checking out the Pursuit fins trying to decide which felt more like the diveR.
They're beautiful fins. Sooo lite. . .

It's amazing how strong it is with only one screw.
Making the sections that insert in the gun round instead of sq. Would be great, anyone with a drill would be able to install them.

I wonder if SeaSniper puts epoxy or anything in the hole in the stock to strengthen it so that forces on the handle don't cause the hole to enlarge over time? I was kind of hoping to avoid the screw up through the top, just for looks, but that probably is the strongest way. Maybe a sideways pin, or maybe nothing at all, on the forward stud.
I'll take it apart tomorrow and check it out. It's just the one screw holding from what Chris at SS told me. To make it easier to transport¿ it doesn't look bad and seems very easy for the home build when you don't have many tools.
I would think your design is stronger with the two pins.

Have you outgrown the Riffe Larry? I was more accurate with that gun than with the gun I use now.
No way!!!!!
The riffe is my go to gun. I love that gun. It's hanging in my garage as we speak I took it apart sanded, made space for a 3rd band(if I ever want to) and re-epoxy it useing epoxy from Phil H. . .
The SeaSniper was a great deal and is just for bluewater when out on a boat.

It's interesting how a few threads lately have been connecting with firearms.

Looks good. I like that you worked on the AR-15 handle.
I just took a look at my SeaSniper Reef pro. The handle is very much the same in the basic idea. The solution I see they used is a screw on the top of the gun going down where your back pin would be. It's very strong and the floatline attaches to the bottom of the handle.
I can take pics if anyone would like.

I agree, this is to much shit to worry about when in the water. But the concept could be useful for some applications.
One more con for this device,
I see it leading to alot of just letting the gun dangle under you when on the surface or near the boat. where if bumped could mis-fire on top of a buddy or to the side. . -
how well the pin releases under pressure.
Even faster then when theres no pressure.
