How's it going man. Welcome. I'm a Tampa Bay area spearo. Always looking to get out with some good freedivers. Shoot me a PM and we'll try to set something up!

haha I had a shot of a buddy puking through his snorkle, but Idk what happened to it. Had another guy puke through a regulator. Dont do that, it tends to mess it up lol. Nice report man. Why'd you switch to 1 band in the first place if you dont mind me asking?

nice fish and bugs! What kind of boat are you guys out of? from the pics it looks like a decent size vessel!

Tribal Seeds- Vampire is the first song. And yes that is the andre euro 120. I'm gonna upgrade to a 144 I think soon though.

Just made my this video from some footage I had from back in August.
Freedive Spearfishing- Clearwater, FL - YouTube
Hope you guys enjoyed it! I took a lot of your feedback and kept the filler to a minimum with just shots of killing fish. Need to get a flat lens!
As always, feel free to leave any constructive feedback!

Nice vid, looks like a couple other studs got away that day... Did they bolt as soon as they saw you or just when you descended on them?
I little bit of both. The big ones bolted the second they saw me, but the smaller ones ~10lbs stuck around at the edge of my gun range. I was diving with a 75cm mares phantom carbon, so the range on it was not good enough to pop one of those mutts at say 15ft.

Awesome vid. It's really cool to see footage of other places and from other people POV. And of course STUD fish.
How do you have your camera mounted? Are you using the head strap?
Like Judah mentioned you might want to cut down some of the time between the action. Its surprising how ADD people get watching these videos. I guess were all so used to highlight reels we dont appreciate the rest of the footage. One thing Ive learned in the the videos Ive made is that what seems about the right amount of filler to the person doing the filming is too long to someone who wasnt there.
Also, did you speed up some of that video or are you really moving that quickly underwater? In that first drop and the one at 1:10 it looks like your zooming.
It was the head strap, which I'm still trying to figure out how to mount properly with the angle and everything. It seems like it was a little high in this video. Thanks for the tip on the filler. I'll keep it down next time around. I didnt speed up any of the video except for the loading the boat scene. And yes I was zooming underwater at that first mutton because he was so spooky that the second he saw me, he took off lol!

As many of you know, I go to medical school in Grenada, West Indies. I recently had a week break to go on a little adventure throughout the lower Caribbean Islands. I started from Grenada and took a ferry to Carriacou and went to Petite Martinique on the same ferry. Spent the night in PM and took a private boat over to Union Island, St. Vincent. From Union, I took the Jaden Sun to Bequia, SVG to meet my friend Nadeem (bequia Blues). We had planned a few days of spearing and I was very excited to spear a new location in the Caribbean!
Packing for the trip:
St. George’s, Grenada Harbor
Carriacou:
Petite Martinique:
I arrived in Bequia around 8:30am
Picked up by Nadeem and after a quick stop for a boat driver (Michelle), we went to his gorgeous 32 Luhrs!
We speared for a few days and killed a good amount of fish. Here are the highlights! Got the lobster diving on tanks, and the mutton freediving a wall that went from 30ft to about 130’. The mutt went 20lbs and the two biggest lobster were 6 and 8lbs. Absolute pigs! I’ll let the pics do the talking for me though! The muttons were being super spooky both days, with sightings of probably 9 or 10 muttons on the last day including one that I would venture a guess as to 10lbs larger than the one that I caught. The erratic behavior of the mutts was frustrating us all day until I was lucky enough to get a stupid one that upon seeing me ran up the wall instead of down the wall and holed up in a coral head. This fatal mistake proved advantageous to me as all I had to do was dive down into the coral head and plug him with a solid holding shot!
On the way back, there was some tropical weather moving in to the area and had to outrun a few storms on the Jaden Sun. We had two waterspouts touch down next to the boat between Mayreaou and CannouanAll in all, it was a great trip! I’d like to thank Nadeem (bequiablues) for his amazing hospitality and getting me on the muttons! As well as George Steele (dude_george) for getting the trip set up for me! I hope you all had a great time looking at the pics and reading this report!

I do remember a thread from a few weeks ago where Dan was talking about a sling with two bands. Maybe he can comment.

I figured I'd share. I saw it pop up on my facebook feed and it's not your average freediving vid. Pretty cool!
-
hahahaha this is great! But yea, i'm always amazed to see what fish can swallow
-
-
can you guys only lobster at night?
-
So how much did you say a ticket from Belize to there was?
You'd have to take a plane to St Vincent and then a ferry to Bequia. I'm heading there in three weeks to dive!!
-
Apparently it was a potato grouper off the Pacific side of Central America. Crazy vid!
-
Great report George! I can't wait to dive all those spots in a few weeks!!
-
I'm sure it will be a magnificent gun. Either way, he doesn amazing work.

If you want to see some ridiculously large fish that you can't shoot go to Looe Key. Dont bring your spearguns though. But you can anchor right outside the bouys and spear there... might get hasseled by the police tho.
