Someone on a different spearfishing site said they contacted the listing agent for this and they knew nothing about The information that was posted about this. They also said the place had NOT been sold either. Worse case scenario they said the land around the hole can be developed, but the actual hole itself and access to the hole will never be sold...according to the local government.

If you are running around downtown come by my store at 116 Fitzpatrick street sometime and come shoot the shit.. Across from the keno sandal factory. How long have you lived in key west? Always like meeting new divers here.

but not to the sport....Hello guys, my name is Tony. I live down in Key West Florida. I have been here for 8 years now. I currently own and operate a Jet Ski rental in Summerland Key (mm24) and also have a electronic retail/repair store downtown key west as well...Im a big geek and enjoy fixing things. I have been heavy in the sport for the past few years, but have been diving/fishing my entire life. I am also a dive master and posses my capts license, I am bringing a dive/scuba boat to the marina where the jet ski rental is located in the next few weeks. I do most of my diving from a jet ski, but go out with buddies regularly as well. I prefer the simplicity of diving off a ski and enjoy it very much. If you are ever in the keys hit me up.

I have about 10 guns last i checked but mainly dive with my 60gr plus, 58 euro Koah or my dry barrel 133 mares.

enough blabbering...now time for the photos:thumbsup2:

PM Bequia Blues, his crew used to fab their own shafts in TNT... Marco they have top notch steel cheaply available due to all the offshore gas mining down there

Hahaa Bequia Blues is down in TNT right now too, you guys should link up. He could probably use some spare shafts for his Euro anyways.

size of the sand on the bottom. If it's really silty/fine then it will take longer to settle after a storm. If its more coarse, it will settle in the water column easier.

Currents in the area will clean out the dirty water faster which is why the SE coast of FL has better viz than the Gulf.

In hot water with lots of sunlight the viz will be better in the AM than the PM because of the algae that grow in the top 15ft of water

In the Caribbean, tall islands (mountainous) will have poorer viz than flatter islands because there will be more runoff from the rain. This is why the Bahamas has such clean water, but islands like Grenada have only 40ft of viz on a normal day.

Rivers near the area will dump dirty freshwater into the areas surrounding creating very poor vis.

Tides coming out of estuaries will also affect the viz as the dirtier estuary water is being dumped out on an outgoing tide.

THats all I have off the top of my head, but if I think of more, i'll let you know

Here's my newest spearing vid. Hope you guys enjoy it! All the footage was taken from one trip that we did in Mid-December out of Clearwater, FL. As always, any comments and feedback are appreciated! I'm pretty new to editing videos and this is only my 3rd spearfishing video I've made. Dont forget to watch it in 720p!

If you liked the video, please like and subscribe! Thanks!!

Back in Grenada, I was able to do a shore dive with John Modica and he shot this 12lb Mutt in 30ft of water. The pic doesn’t really do it justice, but we were tired from swimming all day lol.

I got this HUGE crab on a tank dive I did with some locals. I cooked it up that night and it tasted amazing!

Back in the good ol’ US of A, I was able to get out twice before this horrible weather came through and get a decent amount of hogs and some nice AJ’s.

Thanks to all who took me out on their boats this year, who put me up for the night, and who hooked me up with dive gear when I needed it!! A big thanks to Andrew at Nautilus Spearfishing for hooking me up with a new Andre 144 Euro!!

I wish you all the best in 2013, and I hope more PR’s are broken this year! I’ll be editing the footage I got from the past 2 trips and posting a video as soon as I get a working copy of Sony Vegas lol. Anyway, Happy New Year to all my fellow spearo’s out there and let’s pray for good weather because these back to back to back cold fronts suck!

2012 was a great spearing year for me, so I figured I would share some of the trips and pics that I had been on this year since the weather sucks right now and I can't get out to kill fish

The year started out with me on the Gulf Coast spearfishing with my buddies Don Ross and Nolan Sadorf. Doing a few nearshore trips for hogs with some spectacular cold water viz. We got a bunch of hogs, some sheepies and a few mangos. Just your typical wintertime freedive spearfishing. But it felt great to be in the water and killing fish with good friends!

Soon after the New Year, I had to head back to Grenada, where most of you know I go to medical school. Med school pretty much put an end to most of my spearfishing, with nothing great being speared in Grenada. I returned to FL for a quick break in March, where we were able to get out and shoot more hogs.

And witnessed how NOT to put your boat on the trailer.

I returned again to FL over the summer shortly after the 4th of July. Gags were open at the time and we were able to run out and get a nice box full with Brian Hasson and crew.

I was able to make a Middle Grounds trip with Tony Sellers and Frank Carr and we cleaned up on the Red Snapper and grouper.

We also did a few more trips out for some AJ’s and did pretty well on those too.

I was able to get out a few times with Nolan Sadorf and he put me to shame stalking those spooky in season Gags and we also were able to get Don his first hogfish!

We were able to get out one more time before I left for Grenada to get a 2 man limit of gags and some hogs. I was able to turn the footage into one of my first Youtube videos.

Back in Grenada for the Fall semester, I was able to take a little island hopping vacation to Bequia, St. Vincent where I was able to get out with my friend Nadeem on his gorgeous Cabo to shoot this 20lb mutton snapper as well as get some BIG lobster. This mutt was a personal best for me and I will never forget the feeling of success and excitement I got when it came to the surface!

Got back to America from Grenada on Saturday. Headed out Sunday afternoon for a quick trip. left the ramp at 1pm back by 5. Hit a spot in 45' and another in 60'. Got a 2 man limit of hogfish. with two Red Grouper. Not bad for 3 hours and two spots. Viz was 15' in 60'

Found this 6" hogfish inside the mouth and belly of that fat RG you see in the top of the pic. It was so big that it barely had the head digested but the tail was still sticking out past it's gills!

It was a flat calm day with glass running in we were able to open her up and run at full throttle. The sunset was gorgeous and I got some nice shots with the GoPro and iPhone. It was just one of those days you feel blessed to be on the water with cool weather, flat glass water, a cooler full of fish, and good friends!

Today we went out to 115' to poke some AJ's off a wreck. Ended up with 3 AJ's and a boat load of hogfish! I was able to take some real long shots on those black and white male hogs with my Andre 120 Euro from Nautlius Spearfishing. It was a little bumpy out in the AM, but calmed down enough to 2ft so that it made the ride in really enjoyable.

Will be editing the footage I got over these past few days and making a video very soon!

Good feedback, Ben they dont turn a blind eye buddy they simply have zero resources to police or enforce existing regulations... Takes political will, local support BUT most importantly MONEY to enforce and police for instance if we had policing you would not be able to spearfish in Grenada without a lisence ;)

    That is very true!

It's a real problem in the Caribbean. Even here in Grenada, I see them just raping the reefs not realizing the consequences of their actions. It's hard to find decent fish on a shore dive here. You have to head out deep to 100' at least to get the quantity of lobsters that I would get in one day trip in the Keys.

I still see the lobster guys using bleach to get them out of the holes. I'm not against spearing with scuba, but the way that they do it here is very detrimental to the environment. In the States, the regulations are there to protect the species, so no matter what gear you use, you still harvest within sustainable limits. Here in Grenada, there is not enforcement. All those small fish you saw in the video (French grunts, 6" strawberry grouper, soldier fish, glassy sweepers) are commonly harvested here as well. The law enforcement here is so focused on getting money from foreigners that they turn a blind eye to their own people raping their reefs. It's a sad state.
