It is such a refresher to just look sometimes. You see so much more since the body isn't in hunt mode. So much flies right past you when you are a hunter looking for prey. Went out with a buddy last year and he was determined to shoot a white. I saw close to twenty legals that day and he saw nothing only a few yards away.

Great video Ben. I've been slacking on my GoPro lately.

As far as The So Cal Area, the water comes up very fast. They are either way too deep or so shallow that they get salvaged, or are smashed to pices in weeks or months. There are a few wrecks, but anyone that knows anything about theM is keeping a very tight lip.

Precisely. The wrecks we do have are deep. No new ones due to enviro-nazis. The breakwalls are decent man made structures that produce but most of the time are in very poor vis areas and high traffic. There are a few boxcars off Huntington but have been covered up with sediment and only become exposed in BIG waves.

Two 1/2" bands are what I used as a kid. Get a euro mech since they accept thinner/lighter shafts to get as much punch as possible. Think about a shape lock handle since you can easily get bigger custom fit grips as your kid gets bigger hands. Not sure what handle frame you could use that is small enough to start though.

Awesome you are getting him started early!

Nice! Worth noting that some cedar you buy at the hardware store is treated with chemicals, so just something to remember..

I have an offset smoker and love it. Usually smoke something up once a week. Usually tri tip or some chickens for lunches the next week. Using an offset really allows you to maintain a constant temperature and smoke saturation. You can pick them up for $80 at Walmart

    Cheers!

Hey Don if you ever need to pick up something at West Marine, just give a shout. I have Port Supply Platinum and get the best discount that a non commercial op can obtain. From the looks of it though most of what you're using is old military surplus stuff..

    Cheers

Awesome thread Don! Looks like a brute of a boat! She'll be a fish slayer for sure.

BTW your son is huge man! How's baseball going?

My boss is having me re-fit a 18' Novurania MOB RIB, it was used as a man overboard boat and can withstand drops of 20' or more. 115 Yamaha on the back, it FLIES! Should be done in a month or so, and its in Ensenada, so I'll hit up Todos a few times before I take it back...

Is the Ulusub handle plastic? I'm starting a new build now, I'm going to try and make a roller, but I'm still deciding on a handle. Its looking like a 120 cm gun (LOA) with 110 cm stretch.

I believe it is a composite with glass fibers if I remember correctly.. Its definitely not Riffe plastic or old Wong handle though.

Very scary situation for Tanc. And he is one hell of a diver... If that had happened to a less experienced, as I call them internet divers, then I feel we would have only read about it in the news...:(

Where do you live? I have some 423 graphite you can pick up or I can send you some. It doesn't take much so I can send it in a padded envelope if you want..

I think the only reason that the top is squared off is to prevent the turning only the shaft in the mech. I have a few old undersee mechs that accept the standard American mech, but are made for the old Australian standard round top shafts that have the American notch cut in. Post a pic of the shaft you currently use
