Hey Don! Long time no talk! Here's a little video of a few clips from a day in the keys a few months back with the 110 Airbalete
Hey guys, been a little while since i been on here. I put a few little dive clips together from a day in the keys a few months back shooting my new go to gun.
Enjoy
Very Nice Harry
I really want a 7mm shaft for my tito as 400lb mono is out of the question with the 7.5mm shaft and that is my big fish gun so I want the heavy line even if it is a lighter spear.as I type that is seems like it might be retarded logic and maybe I'm better off with the heavier spear and lighter mono...hmmm.
still certainly want one for my 90 RA
Judah, 400lb. mono is not necessary. Ive found that the amount of time it takes until you finally need that 400lb does not outweigh all the time spent shooting with decreased shaft velocity. This weekend i shot a grouper over 40lbs, she holed up, and went apeshit trying everything she could to get away and cut me off while i kept a lot of pressure from the surface. I thought for sure the line was going to break. In the end the 200lb mono had a lot of wear and needed to be replaced but was still more than enough to do the job. Try going down to 200lb, you will notice huge difference
Shot this girl opening day commercially diving the keys.
I got the mount sowed into a removable hood. Scuba divers have these Velcro strapped caps for their head.
Thanks
Nothing beats this! Super comfortable, streamline, and does not move.
Harry, how do you have the mount secured to your hood?
Great for someone who is forced to stay out of the water due to shoulder problems.
Looks Sweet! Glad i could help you out Don! :thumbsup2:
Very nice, i like the reverse.
That is a picasso.
That video was pretty cool!
Just stone it I like shooting them dead center about 1ft. behind the gills. Go for a stone shot to break its spine, but if not then the cuda will most likely always come up broadside when you are retrieving it and if it decides to make a run it will run away from you. One time in the keys i shot a cuda through the mouth and out his gills. He was wore out so i decided to start bringing him in, due to the shot he was facing me the whole time i was bringing him in. The last 10ft or so he took off and whizzed right beside me. Very close and i will never take a shot like that again.
I had no idea either. Great info.
my favorite pole spear that I've used is the Henly, IMO it has the best sliptip that I've ever seen. I also use a sling that I made out of a round piece of wood, I don't have a pic but it's really nothing special. I think the sling shaft is more important I use RA 6.6mm 170 cm coated shafts. I'm planing on making two 12 and 14' polespears with henly sliptips for bluewater and large grouper but haven't had a chance yet.
ive never really used slings, but always wondered why guys don't use ra shafts for them.
I have a eight ft. Nine w the flopper. Anytime you want to borrow it just hollar
Very generous of you! Will do :thumbsup2:
How do you like it? What polespears have you had?
Ive always wanted an atlatl. I think they are awesome.
Solid aluminum pole spears are too slow.
I'd have to agree. I want to try a 9ft gat-ku for down here.
