A big annoyance to me are bands which move freely in the band slot, and change position after every shot, which requires aligning them every time before loading. When I make a wood gun I purposefully make the band holes small so the bands are held tightly and never change position. I find that on many Euro guns the muzzle band holes are too big for my preferred 16mm bands.
It was suggested to me to use another band as a spacer to prevent this from happening. I know that when two bands are used in one small hole they also don't move, but I was concerned that a short section will pop out. I haven't used the gun rigged this way yet so I can't say, but I was assured that the rubber tubing spacer will stay in its place.
I shaped mine in a way I thought would occupy the most space, also if I didn't reduce the tubing it would be impossible to get such a short section in there. The band has to be stretched hard before the spacer can be pushed in having been lubed with dish-washing detergent, I achieve this by loading the band. Here's the result and I'll report back whether it works or not. If a black band were to be used for the spacer I think it would look better, but then you wouldn't be able to tell from the pic.
