A day trip to Bimini may not be worth it. Assuming of course you are checking in. The bahamians are not known for their punctuality and they surely have a laid back approach in customs while processing your entrance. I've been to Bimini plenty of times and have had some very productful days even on day trips as you suggest. But I really feel that the place can be slightly overrated. The fish get pounded over there and many of them get hunted with guns. Thus, with slings and pole spears, it can be very frustrating unless you have killer spots. I'd go a bit further to the ginger bread grounds and it may be better than the reefs of Bimini. West end is good too. Good luck if you go.
