Is there anyone out there that has plans to come to Thailand? I am on Phuket Island and it is amazing out here.
You can get a boat to take you out to some smaller islands for 30-100 dollars a day (8 in the morning until 5 in the evening) depending on how far out you want to go. I went on one trip and one of the locals that took me caught a 15lb grouper and about half a dozen other couple pounders. I didnt catch anything because I couldn't dive that far (about 60 feet). I didn't see any big fish, but I hear that there are dorado, cuda, tuna, GT, and other big fish.

I have not caught any trophies yet, just a 6lb octopus and some rainbow parrotfish (which taste amazing grilled).
