That's a nice looking ornamental fish. I'm not sure I understand your point though.
Schoolmasters for dummies

lunkerbuster was saying that he was wondering about how fish in different areas that have changed alot arnt new species.
( in reference to the schoolmasters locally and in the carribean) -
i was more making a hypothetical argument using a cladistic point. the notion that taxonomy is categorized by lineage and ancestry leads one to think that two distinct stocks who have common ancestry and behave differently could be argued as distinct species.
to your point about the coloration, to me, that supports the point because that is a subvariation based on location. I was not suggesting that the species should be renamed based on my observation, but i assume the possibility of hybridization with different fish from different areas could also actually change the fish eventually -
i seen hybrids between dogsnapper and schoolmaster already twice.
-
Interesting, did you manage to shoot them?. If so you should've have definitely taken a pic. There's been talk here about hybrids between cubera and mangrove snapper, but never schoolmaster and dog.
-
didnt shoot them, if so i would definetely taken the pic. heard of someone else seeing one not long ago.
think i also saw pics of them already in the internet.
