Well, the other day decided to shoot one. It was a very small one.
Pan seared it with some spices and fish tacos for dinner.
Was very surprised with how clean that white meat looked and tasted. Very good!!!!As I said before, I see them every time I go out but they aren't a challenge to spear. They always come close, check me out and leave in a very slow casual way. So unless I m really itching for some fish meal and not caught anything, I will let them be. Between the ciguatera threat and those teeth mighty as well keep hunting for other species.
PS: Pic is of last "big" fish I caught.
Second pic: Earlier that day saw my first cubera. Was not sure what it was at the moment so I hesitated and did not shoot. When I got back I went online, researched and kicked myself about not shooting.

By far, biggest fish I have seen to date. Biggest fish I have ever caught was a 20 pounder, by comparison I thought this one was in the 40 pound range. Live and learn. Now I am looking for it every time I go to that spot.
