    28 de abril de 2011 - Con 142 ataques en tres meses, la piratería ha comenzado 2011 batiendo récords. El International Maritime Bureau -IMB- ha alertado del repunte de los ataques en la zona próxima a Somalia, en la que se han registrado 97 de estos ataques, 35 más que en el mismo período del año anterior. En conjunto, entre enero y marzo de 2011 fueron secuestrados 18 buques, 45 sufrieron ataques con armas de fuego, otros 45 fueron abordados, 344 tripulantes fueron tomados como rehenes y siete fueron asesinados.

    Únicamente en el área de Somalia, mar de Arabia y Golfo de Adén, fueron secuestrados 299 marineros y actualmente los piratas retienen a 596, entre ellos los dos tripulantes gallegos del “Vega 5”, de cuyo secuestro se cumplen cuatro meses.

    Pottengal Mukundan, director del IMB, a través de una nota de prensa ha alertado de que “estamos registrando un dramático incremento de la violencia de las técnicas utilizadas por los piratas en las aguas de Somalia... La posición de algunos de los buques nodriza de los atacantes es conocida. Es vital una acción decidida contra estos buques para prevenir futuros secuestros”. IP

    April 28, 2011 - With 142 attacks in three months, piracy has begun record-breaking 2011. The International Maritime Bureau, IMB, has warned the upsurge in attacks in the area near Somalia, where there have been 97 of these attacks, 35 more than the same period last year.   • I know it isn't really a solution but sure would be nice to see a USN destroyer sit out there and start blowing these SOB's out of the water. :angry5:
