Title should summarize it. Looking for an AR 15 grip with the exaggerated thumb shelf.
Google "Dapiran Jedi" or abellansub for the exact shape.

Also make sure to check out Midwayusa.com. They have a huge selection. You probably wont find many that have an extremely exaggerated thumb rest because of the design of the AR-15 the thumb has to be able to move around easy.
If you still want a significant thumb rest you can buy a plastic handle and mold it with shapelock to the desired shape or you can try what the trygons gys use.

Point well taken on the thumb movement needed for the AR's.
I have experimented with shapelock and had some success with it, but I still want the option of removing the handle for traveling.
The trygons solution is a cool link, this could be done with a cheap handle, while taking care not to get any epoxy or sealant in the parts that have to interface with the base plate.
There's a guy on SB who makes some, though I'm not sure if it has as much thumbrest as you are looking for. Post 10

When I suggested the shapelock I was suggesting buying a cheap plastic AR-15 handle and using it as a base. Kinda combining the trygons method to a preexisting handle. As long as you can access the screw, and dont shapelock the handle to the frame then it should still be detachable. Just dont get a rubbery grip. use a hard plastic one like the A2 etc.
This is the Falcon Industries "Foxbat" grip. Is it closer to what you were looking for? Looking closely at the pic on the right, it appears that the contour extends higher than the part which mates to my AR-15 handle frames. If so, you would need to file or sand it down a bit to fit underneath the handle mounting plate. The AR-15 rifles are not flat right above the grip, so some grips have a projection off the top rear.
Funky!
Haven't tried it of course but it looks like it's made more for recoil on the horizontal plane. That handle might not help with tracking up and down. ..Maybe not, depending on how that bottom part is shaped.
Jeff-
That's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!
Good part of the modularity is that I can easily switch back to a Hogue grip if I don't like it.
re:tracking, most of the tracking I do is horizontal, not vertical. And I am interested in this for the recoil-cancelling properties more than anything else.
im so am so super interested in this, what do you think they re using in the trygos tutorial?
There are a lot of brands of that stuff but its basically epoxy putty. They sell it at all the local hardware stores. If I remember correctly there was even an advertisement for a similar product on tv. Just do a search for "epoxy putty" on google and youll find a bunch places that sell it. Some are designed specifically for wood or other materials so be careful if you buy online.
