• Hello. My name is Nate, I was raised spearfishing in the Keys, but moved to Baton Rouge, LA for high school. I am now pursuing a Marine Bio degree at FIU in Miami. I got bit by the kayak spearing bug last September. As of now, I've got it made, kayak spearing from Miami to Ft. Lauderdale while school is in, and diving rigs and the occasional bluewater excursion off the coast of Louisiana when on break. I strictly freedive, however I am scuba certified. I've met a few of you through yak spearing and other forums, hope to meet more.
    Good luck

  • Great to have you on board Nate, we could use a marine Biologist at times here. We like good oceans science based on facts.

  • Thanks guys. Don, that's actually what inspired my change in major. I was down to 2 semesters left on a finance degree when I decided I didn't want to be like the professors who were teaching me, I don't know who i was kidding, I can't put on a suit and sit behind a desk. I dropped all of my classes, turned in my books and weighed my options on a marine bio degree, which I had always been interested in. You can only drop on a rig and be surrounded by hundreds of endangered red snapper so many times before the desire to do something about it kicks in. Again, thanks for the welcome guys.
