lionfish derby made the paper

  • I've been spotting them recently up in Stuart and Ft. Pierce. I shot two of them recently and they were extremely tasty. I just cut off the tips off the dorsal and lateral fins then gutted and gilled them while removing their heads. I pan fried them whole and they were absolutely excellent table fare. I'm gonna carry regularly on the boat a three-prong pole spear as it makes it easier to spear them. I would shoot more, but they are usually up against structure and I hate having to shoot so close into them with a fully cocked speargun.

  • thank you for the info guys . rolo i was wonder if you can eat those , thank again for the info

    Que viva la pesca :cuba:

  • if you bring an emergency hot pack on the boat, the kind you crush and it makes chemical heat you are almost fully covered...the really bad stings will need almost boiling water to stop but the chem packs are really good triage

    i like to spear fish
