Based on the old Picasso foot pockets the redesigned Power foot pockets are one of two new models from Picasso, Power and Speed. I found the Power foot pockets to have good moderate stiffenss tendons that give the blade adequate support without adversely affecting its flex pattern. By contrast the tendons of the Speed footpockets are very soft and IMO do not offer enough support for a carbon blade. The sole of the Power foot pockets is stiff allowing for good power transfer from the leg to the blade. The upper part of the foot pocket is soft and comfortable and can be used by divers with a high instep. A strip of more rigid material running across the the top of the foot pocket in the toe area anchors the fins to the foot.
The tendons of the Picasso foot pockets have T shaped slots that readily accept the small blade rails and are easy to install blades into. Two tendon end clips are included with each foot pocket.
There are two methods of securing the blade that can be used with the Picasso footpockets:
- The old way with one sex bolt through the hole in the center of the foot pocket toe plate, which requires drilling a hole through the blade near the toe angle.
- The new way utilizing a hole incorporated into the sole of the foot pocket, and a plastic knob that is attached to the back edge of the blade and is captured by the hole.
