Grappling is much more easier on the body than striking. For example if I'm injured in a particular area I can ask who I'm working with to not do leg locks at all or not to do it on a particular leg. You can still work with full strength and not worry about injury from your opponent. Injury due to bad movement is another story. In grappling though you can get quite a work out just working from your back.

You mean would it be OK for the articulated steel wishbone? It probably would but I'd get rid of the quitadedos if I were you. Just ask Pantoja. There's a nice modification you can make with inserts and dyneema. Let me know if you don't know what I'm talking about. This will be perfect for mini tabs. I'll say it again RA shafts are nothing special, the only thing they got going is they're cheap, but they rust eventually. See my thread on experimenting with an RA shaft and that was a 7.5mm, you get what you pay for. Why don't you get a group of guys together and source out a manufacturer in Mexico?

I don't know what you mean? We do leg locks all the time we just know when to tap. I train with ATT and so far all the guys have been very considerate just as I am. Nobody is out to hurt anyone. If I start to work with someone that appears too aggressive I tell them before we start that if they get a leg lock I'll tap right away and to watch out for it. I don't f*ck around trying to escape from leg locks as I've been hurt badly before. The best escape anyways is to not be caught with them in the first place.

I love boxing too but just don't have time for it.

Interesting question. First I wouldn't pick any of those and rather would make a gun to my specs. But if I could only have a gun from those you listed my reasoning would be as follows.

I like to hip load so that right away disqualifies everything but the Riffes because competitor series also comes with butt extension. Of the two I would go with the competitor series because it's lighter and is perfectly capable of handling two 5/8" bands and a 7mm shaft which is all I need for fish up to 50lb. If I was consistently going for bigger fish I would consider the standard series with a 5/16" shaft and two 5/8" bands plus one 9/16" bands.

Of course the first thing I'd do is get rid of the safety and the handle and put a custom handle on the gun.

That will make the gun usable for me but not ideal. I prefer a length between the C3 and C4 with two holes rather than a band slot which will give me a couple of more inches of band stretch. I also prefer a shaft with a single tab closer to the mech which gives me another inch of band stretch.

IF I could chest load I would go with an Aimrite because it has a steel trigger mechanism. See my post on the RA trigger mech, I couldn't believe it when I saw it. The only thing I would do to the Aimrite is get rid of the safety.

I'm not too concerned about accuracy. If the gun has a solid trigger mech that won't fail and it's not overpowered any one of those should shoot straight.

I was thinking the same thing, with the size of those snappers and groupers that you have there. I don't like to use anything less than 7mm in any case except if consistently shooting 12" snappers which I just don't do. The handle of your gun looks very similar to Rabitech.

Like I said Rolo is using Rabis and I think he's using 7mm RA shafts. With great success I might add if you check out some of his posts. I'm going to ask him to confirm this but judging from the size of some of those fish it would have to be a 7mm.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that they were Ansell. The slippery one definitely wasn't and sticky one I had a couple of friends report on them and I saw that they were blue but I don't know what brand. Looks like they were affected by salt water and sunlight/heat/humidity.

My experience with this kind of glove is of two kinds. Either they get sticky and it comes off and sticks to your other gear, or the rubber gets very slippery in the water and you can't even take your fins off. The latter kept for in case I have to do electrical work.

It's always like that when you're dealing with a specialized market. I think we all make the mistake in the beginning of buying the overpriced stuff. Then again some people don't care and like the convenience of buying everything in one place. Others yet enjoy the brand names, that is beyond me. I'm at the point where the more unrelated to diving the perfect piece of gear is the bigger kick I get out of using it.

If you want to try a pair of these gloves I'll get a pair for you and send them with the spearpoint.

When you go, check out La Perla...it is an awesome place...

Is it one of them deep dark nirvana places? If I mention you will I get the VIP treatment?

Nice find. For my next knife sheath I'll be using flat nylon webbing. Stitch a pocket out of it and use a bungee to secure the knife.

Sounds like a good place to chill for a couple of months. How's the night life? How much is a cheap 750ml bottle of clear rum? Is there high speed internet and if not, satellite internet?

Looking forward to reliving tropical paradise through your camera lens.

How far are you from the coast and the closest dive spot?

Parce que les prédateurs aiment le rouge.

Damn! that must be the reason they were on sale..

Joking aside thanks for the heads up, I didn't take that into consideration. I guess I could return them or dye them, for now I'm enjoying the flamboyance.

    Haha

Julio, your place looks nice. All that woodwork looks hand made. Are you by any chance related to Gilberto Santa Rosa?

How did you find the place? Please take pics next time. What can a lazy spearfisher like me do in PR for money to be able to live there?
