I was at home depot on an unrelated errand and saw these gloves in the isle on sale for $4.99. I know from before that HD has a nice assortment of cheap gloves but they all have padding and shit sewed in which I don't like, these don't. They have synthetic leather palm and a little padding on the palm. Overall a snug fit. I usually buy mechanix gloves which are similar but cost $10. I couldn't pass this price up so I bought three pairs, also my old gloves are just about done. I'm looking forward to easily locating my gloves on the boat due to the bright red color so don't go buying them up :D They only have size L BTW but there are tons of them.

Well Davie, to know that we need to see the internals.

TM, The Aimrite mech did come with a plastic housing and I believe a little while back they started making one with a SS housing. I believe the trigger mech in the new Venom pipe gun is SS; the housing and the internals. Seems like a nice gun except for the safety but that can be removed.

Why would anyone use a plastic trigger mech? IMO it's not a matter of if but when a problem will arise. I didn't know that some pipe guns come with this. This particular cartridge is from a Rob Allen. Do you know how much money they're saving on parts cost for each gun using this system? A stainless steel folded housing can't cost more than $20 wholesale. This thing probably costs $5-$10. For an extra $10 profit they're sticking it to you with this POS. If there's one area in speargun manufacturing that I would never compromise it's the trigger mech.

Pantoja, Sandro and myself found calm seas and poor visibility diving Miami today. It was a struggle for most of the day to find and stay on top of structure. At least the current was negligible and the water temperature warm. There was an interesting thermocline about 4' off the bottom so I avoided lying on the bottom most of the time. There were a few fish taken including these 13-14lb YJ but overall it was very quiet. I hope this storm brought some fish. At the end of the day cleaning the fish at the dock a tarpon showed up to pick up the scraps. We had fun watching it making various passes hesitating to take a bated hook, he finally took it and some line but the hook didn't hold.

    Correct, Arapaima.

    Some info.

It is the largest freshwater fish in South America. As one of the most sought after food fish species in South America, it is often captured primarily by handheld nets for export, by spearfishing for local consumption, and, consequently, large arapaima of more than 2 m are seldom found in the wild today.

I have the same sentiment Jeff. With regards to eating the gar; you probably know more about it than me, I'll just mention one thing that I read. I've seen various times references to gar roe being poisonous. If there is a concern about that it would seem to indicate that people consume them. At the least it should make some good dog or pig food.

I just find this fish amazing. If you consider the structure of the head and teeth it is very similar to an alligator. However they are from completely different animal orders, one is a reptile and the other a bony fish. This is a clear demonstration of how evolution forces/molds an animal into the position it occupies in nature. The alligator and the gar achieved the same look coming at it from completely different directions.

Mexico has to have a good steel industry and labor is cheaper there. Can it be that difficult to get a group of guys together that need shafts, source out a place that makes metal rods and pay a welder a couple of bucks to put tabs on it? RA shafts are not as good as people make them out to be anyways. The only thing they got going is that they're cheap.

You must've acquired this gun used because Sporasub is no longer making stuff right? Put up a pic of the gun, Rolo loves his Rabitech he may be able to see what the differences are.

That was funny as shit, no pun intended. I tried it the other day drifting a bit ahead of Oto. I realeased a thing of beauty. Must have been about 8 inches long with very firm texture and was holding well among the waves. I thought for sure Oto would drift into it. It was not to be. It even had a nice reddish hue as I had a dinner with alot of Marinara sauce the night before and the turd took on a bit of a tomato color. It is fun to shit in the sea.

    :laughing3:

How about these for now.. :poop: :ishityounot:

LOL I did that with my brother when he came to visit. I called him over and pointed the turd out to him. He was pretty credulous since I just showed him a nurse shark. Couldn't figure out what the turd was and reached out and almost touched it. One of the best laughs I ever had.. Turd fish. Rolo, you know the story about the boy who cried wolf?
