Thanks for all your kind comments - this is how the Danish Hybrid turned out...
I just need to adjust the trigger pins and line release - and a triggerguard of polished steel is on the way.
It hasn't touched water yet and I need to balance it - hope that turns out well. -
Congratulations - this is the best!

I really like that pain job! How did you create that effect? If you don't mind me asking.
It is a sort of hydro dip. I pour small amounts of paint on a water surface, and then stir ever so slightly. The colours don't mix at all. My thought was making the ripples decide the pattern - a pattern made by water for water so to speak.
If you google "guitar swirling" there are loads of articles on the subject. - and youtube videos as well.
The white spray dots in the paint are actually pinholes and little bubbles that burst. It is not supposed to be like that and I was going to sand it down and start over again, but looking at it I kind of liked it, reminds me a bit of the dotted whale shark pattern. -
Whoa Dan, I really like that muzzle! Will they fit a 30mm tube?

Hi there
Been working for quite a while on a cross over between a US hybrid and our Euro style guns.
We rarely ever see hybrids here in Europe, why it is so I don´t know - but I have decided to give it a try.
My aim has been to give it a more Euro like appearance, with a more curvy stock and a big challenge has been the transition from the stock to the 30mm carbon tube. I will be mounting a Meandros open muzzle.
It is not finished yet but progress has been a bit slow, so I thought I might as well post a few pics.
I will be painting this thing, with final coats of epoxy. Haven´t tried that before, let´s see how that goes :confused1:
I have been talking to the always very helpful Mr. Wong, who has been more than willing to share his experiences of gun building. This guy is amazing - thanks Daryl if you reed thisAnyway, here are a few pics - more willl follow as I progress.

Nice catch.
Clever boys to bring the RIB to you - when they figure that out by themselves, you know you've done it right
Bravo! -
Nice fish and super nice tacos khalel!
A bit scary though, to see that loaded gun in you boat - an accident waiting to happen...

I dont know if you can use it to build a boat, but I have used it with succes in speargun building. But you have to have very tight joints, as it has poor gap filling properties. Before using it for a real project, I made a glue sample an put it in salt water for approx. half a year, and the joints were not even close to failing!
I know that Spearotiki used Gorilla Glue for his guns. -
I don't have a overall pic of the gun, but I have this clip of it - at 7:25
This video was shot by a couple of journalists, and the guy explaining is the owner of the gun Søren - a danish gun collector and spearo.Sørens passion for harpuner - YouTube
The handle is a sort of sliding tenon, a center part of the grip with two grip scales glued on.
This gives a huge gluing surface. It will never come off. -
Yes is got some sort of sharklike fishlike appearance. If you look at cross section C on pic #4, that is very much like the cross section of this gun.
Nate. I can see why you are asking about a mag track - no, there are no magnents - the picture was taken while testing band lay up. The gun is not finished on that pic.And thanks for all your kind comments, I consider you experienced lot my jury.

Wow! You beat me to it - have had that in my mind for a long time.
Havent seen any roller hybrids ever. I really like it.
Looking forward to reading about the test. -
Hi fellow spearos
I have just put the finishing touches on this little gun. 85cm band stretch.
I got a request from a friend to build him a gun for shallow water "aspetto". He had trouble tracking the fast grey mullet (Chelon labrosus), we encounter here in Denmark in summer. I ended up with designing this extreme slim profile (21mm), where I took inspiration from the caudal keel of the mako shark.
I knew that I would be challenged by this thin profile and chose to incorporate carbon fibre in the design, running several layers of both braided an unidirectional fibres along the bottom. I wanted to be able to get a strong grip of the handle, and made a stippling tool to roughen the surface.
The gun has a epoxy finish with a couple of layers of PU varnish. I have tested the gun for tracking and it compares to nothing I have ever tried before.
I hope it will slay many fish for my friend./Henrik
aehm... Dan how do I link images from dropbox...? Got it.

Welcome Søren Bernburg - another dane in this fine forum

Hi Blankwaker - the tip is epoxy glued into the muzzle. It is 6mm stainless, not hardened at all and very soft. I have a cut down Rob Allen 7mm that I will use next.
-
Yeah I read it. And took a screendump of the first post as I knew that it would be deleted. See if I can find it tomorrow if you want to see it.
The site admin is taking a beating over there, has started a riot by cutting Daryl Wong off.The waters are so much calmer over here - you run a good site here Dan.

Great Dan! Thank you very much

....a friend of mine in the UK has a jig'ed laminate that the reminds me of your gun.
That would be foxfish' hybrid?Beautiful gun this is, love the curved stock.
How do you make the hole for the barrel?I am about to build my first hybrid this winter and I am not really clear about how to make the hole for the barrel...?
Should I rout or drill?
I have a 30 mm barrel - should I make the hole 2 mm oversize to allow for glue or is it better with a 30 mm hole?
