I used vinegar before, it works...aggressively. Use diluted and for short periods on stubborn areas, you'll see the chemical reaction as soon as you dip it in (carbon dioxide bubbles).

People swear by them, but I have reservations. Their products don't look like anything special, coming from someone who has only made 3 guns. I haven't handled one, but I think the workmanship is...adequate. I commented on this thread on SB, but refrained from commenting after the second set of photos. Now, someone can flame me for this opinion, but take a look for yourself; note that the customer was really ecstatic to get the gun.

Picked up my KOAH speargun today!! - Spearboard.com - The World's Largest Spearfishing Diving Social Media Forum

i may be a sucker for anything that looks like batman :) but I think this mask looks awesome.

it is supposed to have lower volume than the micromask and better FoV

    Omer Zero3

Judah, I handled one of these on Sunday. It has a great field of view and is certainly low volume, both are better than my Spetton. The volume isn't a big concern for me, but the field of view is sooo nice. Amazingly, it fits my face really well.

I can't believe I just googled/youtubed "phat beatz"... wtf. That led me to some viking looking guy dancing in the street to german techno music, which led me to some german group named rammstein that does things on stage that I'd like to un-watch. What the hell? I still like the zero3, though.

Haha, you found techno Viking! I'm glad that I enriched your life.

I do coil the lines, but that's actually a pain to get just right and it always wants to unravel. Also, I want to store and use it frequently, I don't like keeping South African Steel shafts in the gun, but I always do.

Instead of zipties, I used tape. I also used twist ties, which works the best, but they'll rust. If they just had stainless or aluminum twist ties!

So I came up with this idea a couple nights ago and I thought I'd share and maybe get some help to make it better.

-The top one is just a 1/2" PVC tube cut on opposite 45 degree angles. Wrap the line around and I used a hair tie to secure the line.

-Middle piece is same, but with cable. This was actually the first one I cut and the cable coincidentally was the perfect length to just hook the loop on the shaft pin.

-The bottom piece is more of a final product, but requires more work. It has an integrated cap for the speartip and I wanted to make the tube longer to minimize the amount of turns on the line. The inside 45 degree cuts is for the last bit of line and is just far enough apart to be able to stretch a hair tie over the line to keep it from unraveling.

The design isn't perfect. The cuts are good, but I'd like to get ideas on securing the last bit of line. The hair tie (or rubber band) would work, but I was hoping to just tuck the line on itself, but it doesn't stay. Don't use the thin 1/2" PVC like above, it's too weak, there's a thicker one (SCH 40, I think). If I bang the bottom piece against something, it will break at the weak points.

So, I'd like to develop something SIMPLE and very EASY to make. Maybe this is good enough and I thought you guys would like it. It cost a total of $2.68, and I have a lot more PVC and caps to make more.

I believe it is a composite with glass fibers if I remember correctly.. Its definitely not Riffe plastic or old Wong handle though.

Great, I was looking for one that wasn't aluminum, as I've had some problems with severe corrosion.

Is the Ulusub handle plastic? I'm starting a new build now, I'm going to try and make a roller, but I'm still deciding on a handle. Its looking like a 120 cm gun (LOA) with 110 cm stretch.

When I see anything with Persistent, I reach for my revolver.

I just feel like I'm being sold something inferior with a bunch of marketing, I could be wrong or be acting like a jerk, but that's what I feel.

I'm going on a Family vacation next week to an all inclusive in Playa del Carmen, near Cancun. I found this outfit Spearfishing Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Riviera Maya Mexico and am trying to set up a trip. It wont be as good as the pistoleros del mar trip last year, but not bad for a family vacation.

Oh, I went with Harry to the Tortugas, shot some nice blacks and saw a beautiful Hammerhead that scared the shiz out of me. Bring a battery operated fan, makes sleeping way more comfy.

    Judah,
Saving fish for floridians was kinda pointless as all the fish was similar to the fish there. Groupers, snappers, etc.

Our main goal was to get Wahoo, but the conditions just weren't right. Kris lined up on a good one, 20-25 kilos, but totally missed a 5 ft shot.

I was just stoked to shoot Pargo!

I loved the trip because it felt like we were someplace that wasn't exploited. We were the third group to the area and we weren't "trigger happy". There were tons of big fish, but few monsters. It took me a little bit to get back to diving as I've not really been able to do much due to my work/life schedule. That's why Harry got all my big fish the first day. The groupers down there were everywhere, but not as big. They didn't really stay in holes like blacks in Miami, they were out kinda like mangroves.

It was really cool to see all the types of fish from Florida, just twice as big. The triggers were so big they had humps on their heads. One trigger fed six hungry fishermen with great ceviche.
