In florida I only use a thin lycra sock. I also dont put on my socks and fins until I'm in the water. Sand in my fin is the worst.

Althought I dont wear neoprene socks Ive checked out some of Dans speardiver socks and they are exceptionally well thought out and well made like all of Dans products. I think they are what youre looking for.

Open cell inside except the bottom of foot is lined so you dont slip walking. Plus the bottom is lined in wetsuit elbow pad so they will hold up. They come in camo colors too.

    Speardiver Ninja Socks

Thats one positive of being a shrimp like me. Big tall dudes like Dan and Judah make really nice fish look small lol. It really was a beautiful dog snapper. Biggest I've seen around here.

Watching Dans battle from the boat was fun. Not to mention i think he covered a damn square mile around the boat before finding and hunting the snapper. After the first spot we all piled on fishless except Dan who was still out working a spot. We saw him diving and diving and then finally surface with a fist in the air. I figured he missed and was uppercutting mother ocean as I like to do. But he swam back towing his gun and pulled out that pretty dog.

Hank, one of your dog snappers escaped and made its way up here. Don't worry though Dan recaptured it. He had to use lethal force though.

Xan sitting on the bottom with the ray swimming around him really was just awesome.

Some moving pictures of the coolness

Xan you gotta post some of that footage I know its got to be really cool.

    Low five bro

Its such a chill dude. Look at its fin. It knows how to low five.

He was super friendly. Me Frank Job and Xan pretty much hung out with him for like 45 minutes although Judah was actually trying to spearfish too. Dan was recuperating on the boat after hunting his big doggie.

At one point Xan gave it a high five.

Too tired to do a full report tonight, but had a pretty nice day off North Miami today. Conditions were pretty nice and should only be better tom. But for now I will post two of the coolest pictures my gopro has ever captured

He was literally robbed of his fish by some giant pelicans. We fed them the guts when we got back. While we werent looking one grabbed the fish, dragged it into the water, and fed it to a snook. Lolol <img src= " class="smiley" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x" height="23" width="23" loading="eager" data-tooltip="biggrin" aria-label="biggrin">

Today was really awesome. Too tired to report now but despite it not being a productive trip for me I had an extremely good time and got to dive in some new awesome areas and do some bucket list stuff. (Manta rays are awesome)

Good reminder of this show. For anyone in the area this is the best flea market ever. I go every year and almost always score killer deals on fishing and boat stuff. In my experience the dive gear is a bit lacking, but the boat parts and fishing gear cant be topped. Last year I got a customer spinner rod and battle 8000 for about half what it would cost usually. 200 and 100 feet of anchor rope for half what it costs at WM. Nice 50 foot tow ropes for half price etc.

My dad actually took off of work to go thursday because the good used boat parts get snatched up quick. He found a nice polling platform for our small boat for like 60$ (it would be hundreds new)

    Thanks guys

Its actually my second build. I built a little holegun on a half finished blank Dan had lying around. Somewhat with a more serious build like this one in mind. It was great in allowing me a little familiarity and practice with teak and giving me the confidence to build a gun on a nice expensive fancy blank.

Dan thanks for the tips, thats exactly what I will do. (probably the ramp off sunrise)

Very nice, it's perfect. I'd go nearby to the dock and ballast it in the salt water. You don't want to mess with this on the boat with so much going on.

I was thinking that. But have you ever pulled a boat out of the intercoastal and it was black with muck and oil etc? Im worried about giving it a premature finish lol. I guess I just need a place near the port I will go to 17th street or something. I was planning on leaving it hidden away all day until right before we leave and then doing it. But youre right, better not to have to load unload etc etc while diving.

    Make sure to file it in the "Blue water handhold novella" section. <img src= " class="smiley" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x" height="23" width="23" loading="eager" data-tooltip="biggrin" aria-label="biggrin">

Great advice Don, Thanks. I plan to maybe always shoot the gun like that as I imagine its going to have a good kick to it.

Going diving tom so I plan to take the gun and ballast loaded in the water. Gonna need a lot of lead I think.

In the meantime I took a few HD gunporn pics. It was way too bright outside. But its better then the typical dark iphone photos.

    Thanks guys <img src= " height="23" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x">

I built a breakaway adapter today. Turned out pretty nice. I also finished up the bands minus wishbones. Rigged the gun up and this thing is almost done! It needs final sanding. But im keeping that for pre-coating. So its time to ballast and then coat it.

    This thing redefines the term "pipe gun" <img src= " class="smiley" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x" height="23" width="23" loading="eager" data-tooltip="biggrin" aria-label="biggrin">

It's got a half inch round over so it's got a nice hook for the line whilst being flush. "It's an illusion Michael"

Edit: rounded the band slot this morning. Gonna see how it stacks (gotta build a breakaway snubber today) before I cut any more, If i cut anymore. I like it how it is. Probably gonna round the other corners a teeny bit more.
