Didn't get a chance to take pics of the snapper, but I probably have some video of him retrieving it. I'll have to dig it up.

Caught a ride out of Haulover and to the south on a buddy's boat. The conditions topside were absolutely amazing. No waves, sun was masked by the clouds so not too hot, and the rain seemed to dance around us. The vis on the other hand wasn't so great.. a generous 30 in 55-60ft, 30 in 35ft, and finished the day with a very hazy top to bottom in ~25ft. Total haul was one bug, 2 hogs and my buddy nailed a dog snapper that was every bit of 25/26in. All in all, a decent day. It's supposed to be pretty nice tomorrow morning, with the swell picking up and staying up through mid week. The viz further north has been amazing all week, 50ft+ all 3 days that I was out.. if you're going out this weekend and have a choice between Miami or the Hollywood/Lauderdale area, I'd definitely go with the latter.
On one of the hogs, I got my shaft stuck in the coral..felt like I was trying to pull Excalibur from the stone.. took everything I had, including my legs.
And a pic to of my effort to make this report a bit less worthless.. -
I'm Putmeincoach. I'll start posting the same reports here, I wasn't aware of Hau's ongoing thread on this site.

Thanks guys. Don, that's actually what inspired my change in major. I was down to 2 semesters left on a finance degree when I decided I didn't want to be like the professors who were teaching me, I don't know who i was kidding, I can't put on a suit and sit behind a desk. I dropped all of my classes, turned in my books and weighed my options on a marine bio degree, which I had always been interested in. You can only drop on a rig and be surrounded by hundreds of endangered red snapper so many times before the desire to do something about it kicks in. Again, thanks for the welcome guys.

Hello. My name is Nate, I was raised spearfishing in the Keys, but moved to Baton Rouge, LA for high school. I am now pursuing a Marine Bio degree at FIU in Miami. I got bit by the kayak spearing bug last September. As of now, I've got it made, kayak spearing from Miami to Ft. Lauderdale while school is in, and diving rigs and the occasional bluewater excursion off the coast of Louisiana when on break. I strictly freedive, however I am scuba certified. I've met a few of you through yak spearing and other forums, hope to meet more.
Good luck
