I was going to ask, that's the tender huh? It must be nice:)

Any pics of the whole boat?

I didnt snap any recently but the next time Im by it ill snap a picture. its a full center console, 28 ft.. powered with twin 150 yamahas.runs great over flat water. rough water got interesting, we had some swells in haulover, it doesnt slam like a fiberglass boat does it gets alot of air coming off the top of a swell if i power up too much.

Tank diving it would get crowded real quick but freediving we could easily do 4 divers off it, plus the captain has no interest in diving so he just wants to drive. once mahi season rolls around ill try and plan a weedline trip.

So now your at the surface pumping with a heavy anchor attached to 20ft of chain and a Yack as a boat, where the rass do you go to from there????????

we swam that bitch to my yak n slammed it right into my rear well <img src= " height="23" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x">

    BTW, killed some fish today.

Fair enough, do you use a float with those diving flags on them?

That thing translates to this for idiot boaters down here - However i still use one off my kayak, and a bigass boat legal size dive flag at that.

I transition back and forth. I always wear a hood at work cleaning boat hulls and i usually wear mine when spearing too. scuba or free. I get super cold quick without it on, if im getting too hot I roll it down.

    Scored again today bigtime.

me n nate yakked outta miami, stopped to look for bugs and came up empty. went out to 45-50 feet, ended up coming in shallower to 30-20 feet. Pulled 3 hogs, 2 triggers, a yellow jack and a mangrove. also landed 2 lunkers.... delta lewmar anchor with 20 feet of chain and another anchor with 10 feet of chain. swam em up from 40 feet, nate did alot of the work but it was a team effort hoisting the big one into the yak.

viz was snotty 10-15 feet but we found some new structure to work over. looks like its gonna be lousy for the weekend.

Nobody eats goat fish down South in the Caribbean... what do you guys do with it?

    eat it of course <img src= " class="smiley" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x" height="23" width="23" loading="eager" data-tooltip="biggrin" aria-label="biggrin">

Thx buddy... i can only take credit for a few, I missed the hog above and another one:frustrated2:X(

Nates not letting me live it down... and i bet him 50 bucks he wouldnt beat my 6.5 pound hog by 2014.

Beautiful conditions this morning. As I was launching, I felt bad for you guys who had to go to school, work, fly to Hawaii:rolleyes:......... ~50ft vis in 40+fsw. Hardly any current. Wind picked up as the day went on, but it was still beautiful when I got out. 3 hogs and 2 mangroves. I counted 8 man-o-wars on the paddle out.. be careful guys.

all that honkin east wind probably blew em in.

I may not end up tapering the gun and recessing the handle as I expected. :( With the blanks 2.5 x 1.25 profile I am not sure I will have as much height to work with as I originally planned.

I was planning rear handle plus but realized I would hate it. Im not going to be swinging this thing around on tuna and my hunting style is to only bring my gun up to shoot. So I think the rear handle will give me more range plus no learning curve. It also simplifies the build a bit.

The blank was about 170 before shipping.

cool. nate confirmed all this for me last night too. I like the look of those seasniper guns that have the recessed handle but its just too much wood. Hopefully me n him can come up with something thats going to work for me and we'll all be able to go bluewater hunting down here. Im thinking i may just suck it up and have him build me something like his but with an AR15 style handle and no reel.

Like that recessed handle setup there reefchief. Ever since I saw nates gun after he built it (even took it out but didnt shoot it while he was out of town) <img src= " height="23" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x"> ive been getting the custom wood gun halfchub. curious to see how your build turns out, im planning on something a little bit similar but nates going to make it for me, rear handle plus similar to a riffe euro x but a little bit more beef to it. how much did you blank run ?

Ft laudy is scary! Any flag is not big enough.

Sound like you two cleaned up

it was great to get back in the water. I honestly dont really trust anyone else but nate as a buddy so far when it comes to beach diving, ive ended up with alot of idiots as buddies and we both dive tthe same way but still watch out for each other.... bout time me n him got back in since hes been gone.

Hit it today with nate. Ive been dying to get out somehow and finally just caved and said lets beach dive it. got in around 1 in hollyhood and drifted the 1st reef. Had 30 ft viz and 74 degree temps -

3 porgies, 2 goatfish, 1 each of a mutton, schoolmaster and mangrove, triggerfish, and a hogfish. Lots of grouper around, no bugs caught. lot of idiot boaters I wouldve been killed if i wasnt on the bottom when when cut right over us.
