South Florida is rough it what way? Crime, wildlife, or..? I will most likely be living in Jupiter but working in Stuart and my wife will probably work in West Palm Beach. As far as diving is concerned I imagine it will take a little time for me to find some spots and also understand the fish and game regs as its different then California. But I do look forward to it. I'm still negotiating my contract so we shall see what happens.

You also mentioned that the undesirables are related to what you do and where you go. Can you elaborate? Places I should stay away from?

I was in the area and was busy and didn't get to take you up on your offer Dan but I do appreciate it. Since my original post many things have changed (Graduated school and looking for work etc.) and I am considering moving to Florida as I have a job opportunity that might bring us to Jupiter. I was able to spend a week in the area and we drove from Jensen Beach down the A1A to Fort Lauderdale. It looks like Jupiter is a good family place and close enough to work for both my wife and I. Other areas we looked at were Boca, Del Rey and of course Fort Lauderdale. However, Jupiter is the most central for our work. If all works out well we may be in that area by the end of next month. Any advise for someone moving to the area from California? Thanks again in advance.

I'm taking a trip to Fort Lauderdale for a week with the family. Thinking about a trip to the keys and to daytona beach to see family. Would love to fish or dive but I'm not going to be able to bring gear. Any recommendations on fun stuff to do, good restaurants to try? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I grew up with everyone telling me kahala had worms so thats why I was curious. Everyone I knew used them for bait or threw them back. Same with large ulua.

One thing I now ask myself is how does the gun float with a shaft in it? I have noticed that when I drop my gun to mark a spot I like my muzzle to point down. However my 130 carbon pipe gun floats muzzle up while on the reef. That was a nervous retrieve but the viz was good so that was helpful. I know a 130 isn't a reef gun generally and I wont use it as such anymore but if you mark spots with your gun its nice to know the pointy end isnt directed at you when your on the surface breathing up.

Oh man. I hate hearing this type of news. I wish for the best but prepare for the worst.
