Welcome... and great intro
-
There are some good points mentioned and there's also going to be personal preference...
Some of them can only be further investigated by making one and testing it
Will see...
Thanks for your input -
funny stuff...

It's going to be harder to get two fingers between the camera and your forehead, to press the two quick release buttons together, than to unscrew the thumb screw. Try it before you move on with this project.
I have to disagree with you on that one, I don't think it is.... and if you consider taking the mask off (just adding a few seconds) it's not even comparable... much faster, no small parts that could fall and depending on the tension you have on the screw you'll need a tool for that...
But that's the kind of comment I'm looking for... what might not work and why.
-
It's nice. But I wouldn't do that. Go straight into the 3 prong, it will be much less bulky.
That are parts, already available that do that... the point of this one is exactly to have it with the quick release so one can take the camera off quickly and film in a hole; pass the camera to a buddy to film you, move the camera from mask to gun; to pole; etc
thanks for your input

Let me know what you think about it...
Any feedback is welcome.
thanks -
Loved the structure, water clarity made it almost surreal...very cool stuff. Whats the red shooting line? never seen red before.
just red mono... even has USA in the name
SPETTON NYLON RED USA LINE 1.6 100M -
that was a spot that was shallow but around it the bottom was at 15-17m... you can see that when it goes around and one can see the blue... I saw it earlier laying down and then i showed up. We had some more encounters... in one of those it just appeared 50cm (less the 2 feet) below me when I was focused on a fish... biggest WTF situation for me on the sea to this day... I have some other vids where one can see it going from the bottom to that shallow spot to patrol it .... passed by another day and saw it there again

Had some more encounters with it... maybe it wanted to clear the zone

This is V3 of the mount for C4 spearguns and Gopro quick release
Already sent to print... should arrive in a week.
Much more reinforced; screws will be sunk in; more the double the material used. Mass ~15g and a little positive with a density of ~0.93g/cm^3 (mount alone floats). -
Nice...
Just in case you want other options for your picture -
-
I already found a (very unlikely to happen) way to break these and am now working on a new version. If anyone wants to try these I have a few that I can send for 8€ (just to cover shipping and part of the material). thanks

Very nice work on the mount and fish.:thumbsup2:
Could you create a small video to show how your camera placement does not impede the loading process? Don't' completely load the gun of course. I would just like to visualize how the "tucked in" placement is better than a little more offset from the centerline when pulling your bands back.
Thanks.
Ok, I'll try...Update: I'll make a vid of the assembly, mounting and loading when the new version arrives...

First testing day... My first point nose grouper (Mycteroperca fusca)
Unfortunately, there's no footage as the camera battery was long gone... more then 6h session -
Just sell me that ''used'' gun when your done.
Cheers, Don
I tough you meant testing the mount in more destructive then usual situations....
There were already some casualties, today, during the test (waiting on the photos).
I'm not seeing the (my) Graphite being sold
-
I see some destructive testing in your future.:D
Cheers, Don
You have some good insights
I have 2 mounts saved for that -
Looks like it may get in the way when loading the bands, but apart from that it looks great, nice work. :cool2:
It doesn't... the whole point of lowering the camera (comparing with other mounts available) and getting it closer to the gun is for it to not be in the way.
Tested it today.... Works great.
thanks

Any issue with the camera being so close to the gun? Most people use a longer arm.
I wanted it to be this close... this way the camera stay's less in the way for loading and overall operating the gun. Also this way the gun is in the center of the frame which gives (in my opinion) a more realistic footage...
The mount I had before was already close but I wanted the camera to be as "tucked" in as possible.
