just showing the starter gear i bought , medium length fins [ good price plus better suited to my needs ] simple comfortable j type snorkel and high visibility mask . they are all SCUBA MAX brand . The reason i bought medium length fins were because the depth i would be swimming in is around 12-20 feet [ now starting] and the mask is not a low volume mask because of shallow depth and i prefer the larger viewing angle it provides for safety reasons , taking into mind i am inexperienced .

just as a side note even tough that pic doesn't look like much due to the fact that i don't have all of the necessary tools , that took about 2 hours of hard core sanding .

i am a new to spearfishing as well but from what my father told me , alge has a part to play . alge population can grow due to nutrients from near by fresh water rivers , industrial run off . the only thing i can think of for the difference between morning and afternoon is the greater winds druing the afternoon due to the sun's heat , stirring up the water.

looked at a riffe euro last week taught it was too expensive here in Trinidad and decided to build a speargun , which will be the first speargun i ever own . i am only going off the info i got from this forum and from speaking to local dive shops . just ordered some parts from Neptonics , but in the mean while i am practicing on a 2x4 of pitch pine . going to try and upload some pics .

hello every one just registered to forum . I am a new comer to spear fishing , born and live in Trinidad . I have always had an interest in spearfishing because even tough i have only ever surf fished i grew up with my father speaking about spearfishing . which he did around the 1980s until my sister was born in the 90s , wife and kids took up his time so he stopped . however i am now 22 and my father and i are now getting into spearfishing . i have been reading alot on SPEARDIVER as a guest and chose to join . My father was very much shocked when we went to the local dive shops last week [ to look at gear ] and found that the 1980s prices that he remembered are no longer true . So thanks to your form i learnt alot about speargun builds and decided to build my first ever speargun . i just ordered some parts from Neptonic and would be posting my build soon . i look forward to your responses . thank you .
