    Hi guys,

I currently own a RA 110 and was looking to try out my first wood gun but need some advice from you all

I was wondering if anyone had any reviews on this gun or first hand experience

I searched HSD and SB for some reviews and found some pretty upstanding ones. I also talked to Mike Hatcher about his guns and saw them firsthand. They looked pretty good with a slim profile (amero) vs his other model guns (midhandles). He suggested I go with the Amero since it would be an easier transition from rear handle like my RA than from going to a rear handled railgun to a midhandle wood gun.

I have a quick question about what size i should get. Should I get a 50-55 inch gun, which is comparable to an RA 110 in length or a 60 inch gun so i can have my RA for strictly reef and the 60 inch for deeper reef and possible Ono's and Mahis?

Most of my diving is shore-diving past the reef ranging from 20-45ft. Would a 60 inch be overkill?

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks!

My first spearfishing mask was the AQA Mantis 5, it did me really well and fit great. It was a bit too bulky for my liking and I ended up selling it to my friend so I can try out the Mares X-VU liquid skin. The comfort on these things are amazing, but the nose portion didn't work well for me trying to equalize. It was too narrow for my big, flat Chamorro nose. Lol. So I ended up buying the Beuchat Micromax tinted. It's been really good for me so far, has lower volume than the Mantis 5 and fits better than th X-VU. I heard the AQA Mantis LV is out now and seems badass, but it's expensive at $140! Next diving investment? Hm....

    Hafa Adai everyone!

    Hafa Adai=Chamorro for Hi/hello.

My name is Justin and I am currently spearfishing out here in Hawaii (going to college actually)but was born and raised in Guam.
I've been fishing for a little 10 years now, (I'm 21). I been diving/spearfishing for a little over 2-3 years now so I'm still fairly new to the sage spearos on this board.

I joined this board to just help me get more information about diving and gear reviews without all the sugarcoating and brand loyalists that I've see in other forums. I value the real opinions on this board because it seems that everyone here has way more experience than myself.

Feel free to ask me any questions about diving in Hawaii or in Guam, I'm more proficient in the Chamorro names of the fish found in Guam but I'll try my best to answer back with both the English and Chamorro names.

I'm looking forward to being a part of this great community and hope to contribute what little I do know to anyone who has any questions.

    Shoots!
