Looks great! What finishes and steps did u use to achieve a paint job of this quality?

    thank you Khalel.

After vacuum forming the carbon I apply 2 coats of epoxy.
Once cured I sand it 400 wet and dry and clean it thoroughly.
I then airbrush 3 coats of metallic silver.
Then I spray thinned black for the stripes.
Last paint is a thinned translucent Marine Blue, adding multiple coats the to top while feathering the edges to it remains see through and looks 3D.

Last step is to coat with 4 more coats of epoxy, cure and rig.

Love the flames! Beautiful guns man. What is the longest you think you can go with that shape and cf over wood? Like 140-160 id guess. Stiffer than a pipe gun

    Thanks Lunker

This was my first project with flames. I practised on panels and then dummy blanks first. I was going to pin stripe the flames like the old hotrod style but liked the look of it how it is.

With straight grained timber that is laminated and well seasoned I would be confident in making a 1.6m
My 1.3 will take my weight (90kg) standing on it while only being supported on either end.

These guns will evolve over time. I am no expert, just a guy in a garage trying new things step by step.

    Regards

    Darren.

Are you wrapping wood in CF or is it made entirely from CF then painted?

Yes, it has a timber core that is wrapped in carbon fibr. It is then levelled with epoxy, lightly sanded and airbrushed. it is then finished in another 4 coats of epoxy. Labour intensive but I wanted to ensure no water problems with the airbrushing.

    Specifications

    Core: Mahogany
    Finish: Carbon fibre
Airbrushing: A combination True Fire technique in a classic hotrod outline
    Mech: Wide throat reverse mech
    Handle: Customised JBL
    Rubbers: Twin 16mm
Shaft: 7.5mm, 300mm overhang and triple mini shark tabs

I am happy with this little gun with the real test happening tomorrow afternoon.
I added magnets in the muzzle prior to application of the carbon fibre and i was initially worried that 2 may have been to strong. Once wrapped they are not as strong as I desired so I will have to improve this in the future.

New South Wales but occasionally Queensland and Victoria. I hope to visit some friends down in Tasmania, South & West Australia.

Forget diving the Northern Territory, every second species of marine animal wants to kill you. There are some crazy bastards that od dive it though and get some cracker fish.

Its a 1.3m custom carbon rear handle Euro with a camo finish.
The mech is a wide throat Euro reverse from our great mates at Neptonics.
I am trying the Ulusub reel and I have to say, so far I love it. If it performs as good as it looks it will be on a lot of my guns.
I have 3 JBL handles that no one was selecting so I wanted to try it out for myself. I wanted a white handle to help locate my gun easy but camouflaged while I am holding the grip. It looks odd but feels great, can't wait to try it out.

I still have to install the butt pad and rig it but will be out of time until next year.

Let me know what you think (I know the colour scheme will not be for every body) and any areas I could improve on will be greatly appreciated.

Another option could be to buy a tag for the capture of a White Shark.
That way numbers and strict locations have to be adhered to and the money goes back into the Fisheries.

$2,000 - $5,000 for a single tag would not be outrageous IMO.

For Bluefin Tuna 7,500 tonnes per annum would be a sound biomass to take but we take a very unhealthy 36,000 tonnes. Atlantic bluefin tuna - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I see no problems with harvesting a small percentage of White Sharks in areas where the population has exploded as long as it is done in a sustainable way. If we take a sensible percentage of the biomass from specific populations only then its a win win but not every body wants to do that homework are like to use 1970's data to propel the propaganda.
