Lol buck Choy. The other diver was a model of what you'd want around, though. It seems like it prob wasn't that obvious how close Ben was to being in trouble yet the other guy was on top of it. On the other hand if I saw a fellow diver letting out that much air on ascent I'd keep a close eye as well for at least a few seconds after they surfaced

Always neat to see Spanish macs instead of Ceros

100%. My friend George shot one on second reef off Dania and got it on video. Will see if I can find that video.
Wow, would be great if you find it, please post.

I believe it. Have seen wahoo 100 yards off shore in Boynton Beach so it'd be nothing for them to cruise inside on the clean water flood tide.
Are you sure? I thought I saw a wahoo less than a mile off ft lauderdale beach once but literally couldn't believe my eyes and I told myself I must be mistaken. It's not so unbelievable I suppose, the gulf stream is right there.

I bet it's right by an inlet.

Just wondering is that a little inflatable with a 9.9 horse on the back? Did you go out of port Everglades or Haulover with that? Also don't think I've ever seen a dog snapper off that area, do you know how deep you were diving? Anyways nice fish

Might be the only scenario where Mako out performs its competitors.
That product was the first thing that came to mind
(Assuming your referring to the bungee that attaches your wrist to the gun) -
According to Instagram the same 10 guys have been shooting lots of 50+ lb ones since the beginning of summer. Haven't seen it as frequently as the summer winds down

Got some videos of my RG in action... :rolleyes1:
It came out really nice and it is death-on accurate.
Fish in the video are nothing spectacular but you get the idea on how does the gun shots. And they were good table fare...
I preffer testing my stuff in real life situations and not in a controlled environment as a pool. At the end of the day, I want it to kill fish, right?
Hope you enjoy it.
Nice diving as usual Marco, unusual to see you in shallower water.
Do you really feel that gun shoots as powerfully as the two banded pipe gun you used for so long? After 9 shots I imagine you can make a pretty good judgement.

Here is the 5/8s Primeline showing 60bs for the single band leg @ 350 stretch.
It looks like I'll go back to green dyeing some secret stash I have stowed away.;)Cheers, Don
DP that's crazy but damn it's nice to actually be able to know

Hard to critique, seems to be a well put together gun and your parts choices from the shaft to the front line guide are all, in my opinion, good choices. Only thing is the steepness of the band guide cutouts ( somewhat easy fix if necessary ) and I don't know what the gun would be used for but I assume from ur location it will be yellowtail and white seabass so I think considering the size of the gun a band slot instead of holes might have been a better choice, just so you have the option. I would think two tight 16mm or 17.5 mm bands should propel that shaft well enough. Have you considered a loading pad? With the fat derrière you prob could get away w/o one but I would have one personally.
Very nice build

You must of hit just the wrong spot on the head at just the wrong angle. Cuberas are notorious for bouncing shafts but I can't believe a 130 w short bands wouldn't do it though.
Sorry for your loss.
RIP to that opportunity -
I jammed one solid with sand, but I just un-clipped the rubber belt and popped the little float. I still use it some times it's just a added tool.
Cheers, Don
So you have one of those float bags with a little co2 container and pull tab connected the the belt, along with the belt reel? thats a great idea. Unhook the belt with one hand and pull the tab with the other.
No lost life and no lost gear

Yes they can be dangerous as with most things one ties to our body's.Cheers, Don
Agreed , that's where my skepticism lies
-
Nice King but close call though! How deep were you when you shot it?
Thanks khalel. I am really not sure. I'm open to guesses based on the video. I'm pretty sure that spot was a bit over 100' to the bottom. Waters not the clearest but you can see that the bottom is all sand right before the fish gets shot.

Nice.... float line or reel?.... or bigger reel?:D
Cheers, Don
I never liked the idea of belt reels but there may be one in my future

Went yesterday for a quick snook hunt before work
