Dan, I find it quite impressive how you've incorporated band recesses along the new carbon barrel. I've got a thing for bands laying as parallel as possible along with the shaft.

When I saw the first picture, for a split second I thought it was a vacuum cleaner :D

I'm having a little difficulty in understanding how it works, but how I see it, you load it like a conventional band gun, but the energy comes from pneumatic thingamajigs inside, no?

I love the sleek lines and how futuristic it looks!
But I'd believe it's functions when I see it in action :D

    hank,

I have done the same before, with small sweetlips or golden spot trevally. I have also eaten small mangrove snappers before (bought from the market) and they taste great!
They are great fried whole! I don't dare do this with more vulnerable species though! With breams, grouper or pelagics, I stick with a minimum size!

I use sharp scissors, but I either snip the line right at the tip of the scissors/blades, or I just "saw" with the sharp blades of the scissors. Sawing dyneema works well for slippery or waxed dyneema, as they tend to just sort of flatten when cut normally with a pair of scissors.

    I've got skunked many times!
I'd say nearly 30-40% of all shore dives, I don't bring any fish home.
But I've been spearfishing for just a year, so I can say that getting skunked really taught me a lot about not only hunting technique, but how to pick the right dive spots. Visibility is a big factor here in the Arabian gulf, so it gets frustrating when you can only hear the fish but can't see them :(.

But hey, it's always a learning experience! If I had to attribute reasons for getting skunked, I'd say bad visibility days and not being able to find the 'fishy' areas at the right time.

    Hello all!

    So I just bought this on impulse from a sports retailer here in Dubai;

Sad thing is, it comes without any documentation. Just the components in an Omer plastic cover.
I'd assumed that it would be possible to inflate the internal bladder by mouth, but it seems to be blocked?

My question is, do I need to poke a hole on the inside of the valve because it is new? Or do I need to get it pumped by a high pressure pump?

    Awesome fish, Marco!
That is some really good footage of the big mackerel as well! I've been itching to see one for a while here, but the season seems to be over for them here..

Panama spearfishing is DIRTY, MURKY water where you HEAR a lot of fish, but you don't actually see them. Lots of current and suspended plancton. Actually, I don't have the aim with this (120) speargun because I haven't used it much. I always end up picking one of my kids gun. either a 90 or a 100, being the 90 the more suitable for what I've been seing so far.

Fish appear from nowhere and disappears before you can point the shaft to them. It's surreal. But you can hear the corvinas croaking, the goliaths and cuberas exploading, the smaller snapper...

Murky water diving is sometimes better! The fish need to come closer to get a look at you. It's just very unsettling sometimes, especially in sharky waters. It sounds like the shore diving conditions here, actually.

I use this below for everything now after trying out everything i could get my hands on, I use it as my core line on my float lines and bugees, I use it as my reel line, shooting line... EVERYTHING ;) It doesnt burn your hands when a wahoo takes off at 70mph :@ splices, back braids and joins seamlessly with the same stuff. Lasted me years even shooting around structure. 1.8 mm 1000lb strain... It has a tendency to knot if you let it ball up in the water is the only negative about it. 200' Green Dynaglide | Bishop Company Found this years ago by accident, I see others are catching on and starting to sell it.

Dude George, I gotta thank you for this resource! I found out about dynaglide through one of your other posts, and I ordered 2*200 ft spools to try it out. Easily the best handling (soft to touch), super abrasion resistant and most durable dyneema I've tried!

The ONLY thing that may be a drawback is that it's slightly waxy (increasing its abrasion resistance), which makes it a little slippery when used as wishbones. Other than that, it's PERFECT!:thumbsup2:

I use a Cressi Nano as well! And I'm loving it!:)
I do wonder whether mirrored lenses allow fish to come closer, but that's a different topic for a different thread.
I've always preferred Cressi masks and snorkels against other freedive brands. They seem to be simple, yet well designed and engineered.

You can save your yesterday's catch guts as today's chum. You don't have to kill a fish to do so. ;)

Spot on, Marco! And as Dan mentioned, gutting fish in the water sometimes brings in other fish. The problem I've faced is that whilst gutting a speared fish, the other fishes tend to swim by too soon!:D
