Thanks Makoa. I didn't realize that riding high in the water would cause problems. Do you think a single board would handle a cooler for fish plus gear and me if needed?

I just noticed the "floats & boards" section. Hadn't noticed it before. Dan, how did the board you made from a boogie board work for you?
-
I have an idea for a temporary float that I want to bounce off you all. Feel free to laugh.
I was thinking about sandwiching two cheap boogie boards between two thin sheets of white pcv. Bolt it all together and add a flag pole and a loop for a float line.......
What do ya think? -
Dude George= the next Captain Ahab:crazy:

Thanks hank. That sounds pretty similar to what I do now. However I haven't been able to totally relax in the water yet due to a sinking problem on my breathe ups. I just have on board shorts tho. haven't dove in a wetsuit yet or weights. Im hoping that when I get my wetsuit on Wednesday, I can get the weighting figured out so I can be a little more buoyant on the top to improve my breathe up.

Good morning! So I have been out of the water for two months and im sick of it. I find myself reading thru old threads on here every day and trying to progress mentally. One thing that comes up often but no one ever goes into much detail about is breathe up technique. I even tried using the search function to no avail. So I would like to hear what you all do as a routine. What constitutes a "GOOD" breathe up?

But...... would you shoot it?

I know its a day early but I just wanted to take a minute to say happy holidays to you all. I hope you all have a safe holiday season and enjoy your family.
I haven't been on in awhile but you all have been great and I thank you for all the kindness and advice you have given. -
I just wanted to thank you for this thread. I have re read every post in this one several times since I found this site. Great stories about hunting, safety, the one that got away, and most importantly, family.

omer alienI use the stealth but slightly prefer the alien. The alien however has been sent in for repair and I have had no issues with the stealth.

Hank you the man. I am usually in the water for 3-4 hours but I exit the water usually twice during that time. I get out and dry off have a chew and warm up.

Dan, I'm sure it depends on the person but what water temperatures would you say these are effective to?...... Ballpark.

I am as inexperienced as you can get so maybe I don't have a place to comment on this particular thread. I view my question as a learning tool and in no way mean for it to turn the discussion into the blame game or finger pointing. Having said that, I am guilty of diving solo to 70' a few days a week. I think most people, against their better judgment will go out alone if the alternative is not going at all. When I do go with someone else, when they are down I am watching them and fully expect that they watch when I am down. I think that from the video that was described, regardless of a bad breath up or any other circumstances, if Nate was on the surface for 4 seconds before he started to sink...... That just makes this all the more tragic.
No amount of fish is worth not watching your dive buddies ass.
Again I apologize if I am out of line here.
