Tranquilo que hay pargos pá todos! Además, quién te dice que lo voy a llevar a mis sitios?

Fernando: If you insist you will progress.
Pantoja: Vente pá ca y deja de quejarte!

I knew it. Great story. I can tell you guys are good friends because the few times somebody dove on me I didn't take it so lightly. Another appropriate nickname would be "the pressure" but "la sombra" works on a couple of levels
Carmelo doesn't use the computer much? Let's hear his side of the story!
Carmelo doesn't have a computer (and doesn't speak a single word of english), but his side of the story is the same. He's got his excuses as "Yo me acerqué para rematarlo, por si se te desgarra" and so on.... But then he laughs his ass off....
His nickname was sorted by Naranjo, a Cuban that goes fishing with us (not this time), because he says Carmelo always puts pressure over his head... :rolleyes1:
Actually we have a great team and we are always laughing and making fun of each other on our way to and back from the fishing spots. This one is almost two hours driving from San Juan, so you can tell...
Carmelo is like my "little" brother (actually he is 6'3") and I appreciate him a lot. When I first met him 3 years ago, he used to swim after the fish in 10' of water. Now he is one of the best spearos I know.
Pucho y Fernando: Ya cuadraremos una salida juntos.
-
hahaha it occurred to me but there's got to be more to it
He is mulato or just "negro", as we say here without false "ethics"....
Additionally, He's earned that nickname because he appears from nowhere to shoot the fish you have been chasing or waiting for.
On this trip, I was in the bottom laying waiting for a cubera I spotted earlier and suddenly a permit showed at my right side. Normally I try to place good shots that ensure not to tear/hurt fish unessesarily, But Carmelo was comming from the surface after MY permit! I had to take a looooong shot. Fortunately it went well and it just the gill plate. We surfaced together laughig our asses off! When we hit the surface, he said "Cabrón!, pá que le tiraste de tan lejos?!" and I said "te lo iba a dejar a ti, mamabicho!?" :laughing3::laughing3:
So the permit is the one in my hand, close to one of my muttons.

Gracias Fernando.
Será para la próxima. Tu tienes mi número.

You are all welcome! Just give me a call.
You see? I was inviting Julio and Pucho and they couldn't make it.... Hope next time.
It was out from "La Parguera" 70 feet mostly in an area very close to "La pared", a drop that goes from 100' to 2000'. The moon was the right one (cuarto menguante).
To see the big ones you have to find them. They're not everywhere.
PS: Carmelo is "La sombra"

Some more pics
And a couple of videos:

Este no es de esta salida, pero es muy curioso; se trata de una barracuda sin cabeza que al parecer se resistía a morir! :o

Finally we got the chance to go out last Sunday with Carmelo, Fernando and Manuel, Fernandós friend living in New York.
Water was nice and calm, 100 feet of visibility and very soft current.

Nice catch guys!

Marco,
I'll be tied up Sunday but I'll be headed out with a friend to my spot on both Monday and Tuesday. We'll be there from 7:00 a.m. to finish on both days. Expecting some dirty water but plenty of big fish. You have my number. If you can't make it that early let me know and we'll wait up for you. Thanks again for the invite!
Well, you missed and excellent fishing day; we filled two large Igloo coolers with Muttons and Dog snappers. A couple of permits and some hogs. I'll post the pictures later on.
Thanks for your invitation. This week I can't go out during the week. Sometimes I can, but not this one...
Tuesday will be "cuarto menguate"; teoretically, the best moon for muttons. Be prepared.
Good luck!

El huracán pasó por Saint Thomas y Santa Cruz. El mar va a estar BUENÍSIMO al sur. Hay cuarto menguante y va a estar lleno de samas (pargos).

Only in the USA. In Europe you can get a decent speargun for less than 200$. Not mentioning the prices in South Africa for a "Railgun"

Hey Julio,
Going out this week end? I'm planning for Saturday. Don't know yet where to, but for sure I'm on the water. Are you in?
