    Hello everyone:)

To Josedias: Yes it is a codfish, but from summer 2015.

To valjo: The distance is 10 cm and the numbers from the cross are calculated with maths.
Yes, you are right, the second table should contain the "volume information". I wrote them (Frivannsliv) a message about that:)
    Thanks for the kind replies,

    Cheers, Isaac

    Hello everybody

The people from the norwegian spearfishing shop Frivannsliv have measured the horizontal/vertical viewfield and the volume of several masks.

I thought it might be interesting:)

I apologize for not being a very active member otherwise..:nono: Anyhow I do have some interesting footage from my recent trip to Norway, I will sum it up and post it soon.

    Safe and happy diving ;)

When I built my speargun I intentionally didn't make a safety switch. The only safe speargun is one that is not loaded. The most important safety rule for me is to never, ever point a loaded or not loaded gun towards a person, especially when you are in the process of loading.
The first day I was spearfishing I had a gun with safety and I forgot to turn it off before a dive. I wanted to shoot a fish and so I pressed the trigger..the spear didn't fly, but the line release let go. I was really stunned until I noticed I had forgotten the safety switch. Still under water I took off safety and shot the fish. What I also didn't notice was that the damn line had wrapped around my knife-holder on my arm. It was pulled forwards, it really hurt and I am lucky I wasn't injured. And I would have been really annoyed if I lost the fish.
I don't trust safety switches on spearguns.

    Greetings from Norway

A bit late, but here's some pictures of that fish:)

    I'm still in northern Norway.
I will go spearfishing now, I hope for some flat fish or scallops.:)

I haven't tested it in the water yet, but I guess you're right about the turning thing. On the other hand it should be possible to turn the gun by pushing fingers against the trigger protection. The handle is thick enough though because I will be using 5 mm gloves
I will post some videos some time on how good it works:)

    Hi folks!
I proudly present my first homemade speargun:)
It will be used in Norway this year.
It's made of Iroko wood and it is coated with epoxy.
    Gun length: 140cm
    Arrow: 6,75mm x 140cm
    Barrel length: 115cm
    2x 16mm bands

    Safe diving!

    hi:)
it sounds pretty much like your sinuses. i had the same problem when i started diving (it can feel like tooth pain, or pain in the jaw, or somewhere on the forehead near the eyebrows and nose)
if you have it on one day, you can try to suck in salt water through your nose and blow it out again. sometimes this helps, but especially if you have a cold, it'll be hard to get it away immediately.

i got rid of that pain by doing the following:

from time to time i close my nose and do the equalizing thing and hold it that way for 20 seconds. this will widen the eustachian tube and the sinuses by time.
before i go out on a diving trip, i clean my nose and sinuses by using a netipot. from my experience it's best to do this in a shower, as you can lean down your head as far as possible, which will make it easier to clean the sinuses.

these two things helped me pretty much and i almost never have any pain in my sinuses, except when i recently had a cold. there is some nose sprays that will do different things, like widen your sinuses or dissolve whatever is blocking the way.
but nose sprays would be my last choice, as they are usually unhealthy and a few are even addictive..

    hope this can help you
    safe diving:)
    have a nice day

The buoy is basically made of two oval shaped pieces of truck tarp that are sewed onto each other at the edges. Before that I cut the shape for the zipper and sewed in. The "bag" is turned inside out and you lay the truck tire inside and fill it with air.
Everything that you will sew onto the buoy (like loops for the dive line) has to be sewed on before the two main parts are sewed together.

Yes the crab was very yummy:) It actually is the Norwegian record for a crab picked by a freediver (2,8 kg and 25 cm across the shell).

    Hi folks!:)

Thank you for accepting me to speardiver.
I got into spearfishing last year when I was staying on a farm near Bergen(Norway) and since then I am hooked on to it, so I am preparing everything for my next Norway-Trip (several months).
This includes making some of my own equipment, like the buoy and the speargun.

    The buoy I made:

The Speargun is made of Iroko wood. It's not quite finished, pictures will follow in two weeks:)
I am always happy to share experiences and methods:)

    And some nice spearfishing memories:

    My first speared fish

    With best regards
