I think the same point can be conveyed the Don Berry's-Blue Water Hunter's (whether he meant it or not I don't know), the last few lines, where he mentions a memory more permanent than painted stone, we are all part of the cycle. A species becoming extinct or thriving and becoming overpopulated doesn't make a difference.

Humans have always been apex predators and I use that word predaotrs deliberately, we sit up there with sharks, bears all the other top predators, yeah a bear may have claws a shark teeth, but we have a bigger brain thats our weapon; it is a little different.

But we all hunt,we all stalk, we all kill, if you appreciate doing one how could you not appreciate the other.

Now why you gotta go there.

I am from a third world country in the Caribbean born and raised, I never thought it would be possible to go spearfishing ever in my life; not even a consideration.I was fortunate enough that my father made sure we knew how to swim. I didn't have access to a decent computer until I moved to the states.

I work my ass off like everyone else, I was trying to point out, that the reason most people hunt nowadays is for "The Hunt" thats why we post pictures of fish we catch and of ourselves holding up two lobsters with our gut hanging out.

I think there is something primal that attracts most alpha males to " The Hunt ", we all spearfish but it will probably be much easier to buy fish. Not like any of us are in poverty we all have computers and internet access.
Yeah it doesn't always taste the same but you get my point.

When I go spearing I always go thinking, "What can I catch today" not "What can I eat today"

3 weeks, that kinda sucks. The day before it really hurt I could not get 5 inches of water above my head.
Hope I don't have to wait that long, the water has been so clear and flat just about perfect these days, I really couldn't resist.
Kinda scared the crap outta me though.
Good to hear its nothing serious, Thanks for the reply guys.

I was diving today, and I have had a cold recently and while diving I was having pain in my sinus region.
It did hurt but I was more concerned with "the hunt." Actually got some good fish today.

After I get on shore I take off my mask, and blow out as usual expecting the whole mess of stuff that accumulates in my nostrils to come out, but I got something extra, a shit load of blood in the mix, almost like I had a nosebleed, (really red blood). I have never had a nose bleed before though. Did I mess my self up. Just asking maybe someone else has experienced this.

I think an easy thing might be just holding your breath while walking during normal daily activities.
Not to the point of blacking out but I think it can put similar demand on your lungs for oxygen to your muscles.

Saw a ton of mackerel up in Boca, I know you said you liked them, but I went this afternoon before work and it was deceptively choppy so I keep drinking water and was too noisy to get close enough to them.

I did get a nice margate that may be a current record breaker :thumbsup2: I gotta weigh it, if I can find a scale.

Anyone get destroyed from jellyfish today shore diving

? I was stung about on every spot not covered by my suit even my mustache. But there where a lot of good size fish out though.

I think I was being kinda loud when I saw the Mack and it was in our way back in, I am going to try again somewhere else tomorrow maybe Atlantic or Deerfield. Hopefully it will be better.

I did see a few porgy type fish but they were probably right at the limit so we let them be.

I was out on Sunday with my buddy at Commercial Pier it was cold but we were more excited to get out we both got spear-guns for Christmas, but we got out to the reef just past the pier and saw very little of anything out there. Usual reef fish and one mackerel that was huge but split as soon as we spotted him.

My questions is, is it worth it to be shore diving if I actually wanna catch fish when it is this temperature.

I don't even know anymore I forgot why I posted initially, now I got people telling me I don't understand principle laws of physics then deleting there post I don't know what the hell is going on now. I was trying to help....really.

I think I started out with the idea that people wanted to know how to get a neutral buoyant point on there guns, I think somewhere along the line someone suggested changing the buoyant force of the gun. I wanted to state you cannot do this without changing the actual dimensions of the gun.

The thing you can change in the gun is it's weight you CANNOT change the buoyant force of the gun without changing the shape and size of the gun.

That is why I was trying to say the Buoyant Force of the gun is not the determining factor if you want the gun to sink, float or stay neutral.
