Depending on how much bend you gave your arm this is generally the way to measure for a mid handle. Keep in mind you are not the same size as the person next to you so 12" for you could mean 14" for someone else. Also, keep in mind that you are going to add a loading pad so take that into account for where the butt of the gun will meet your crease in your arm and give a little play.

That's what I figured you'd be going with just wanted to double check. There is a general rule of thumb. I have to look back at my notes to find the high and the low, but off the top of my head I want to say minimum 7" maximum 10". If anyone knows off the top of their head please feel free to correct me. Myself, I usually roll between 7.5" and 9".

Right on. I'll definitely be following this thread.

You're talking 65" threaded shaft, right? So not including the tip. If you're including the tip I believe your shaft will be a little short with little overhang.

Look forward to seeing the progression. What is the length you are going for and what kind of fish are you gearing up for? I see you're from CA so I presume yellowtail and white sea bass.

It's actually quite comical how immature these guys are. The sad thing is they are all mostly between the ages of 30 and 50. What's even more funny is the fact that the community supports them. I stopped following the progress of the lawsuit, but I hope they end up having judgment against them. People, no matter where they are from, should be able to access the coast without fear of harassment.

A couple of comments to add to this. In the original post there is mention of acetone. I try not to use that unless necessary. I believe Riffe had some delamination problems a while back due to acetone. I use my air compressor and make sure there is no sawdust or anything left on the wood before epoxying. This ensures the wood does not have any solvent to mess with your epoxy mix. Additionally, I did not see too much mention of filler. For laminating I see filler as a must.

Dave, regarding your question on how much pressure is too much I keep going until there is minimal pressure. If you are trying to tighten your clamps and you are using force, that is too much. You don't want to squeeze out your epoxy, otherwise, you end up with gaps that you won't necessarily see which means a weaker bond and possible delamination problems in the future.

What a stupid shit...like running toward a oncoming train. I've watched a few tourists die there over the years.
Sad part is the guards and surfers that put their lives on the line trying to save them.

    Cheers, Don

I'm with you on that. At what point do you call it natural selection and just let their stupidity destroy them? Perhaps a little harsh, but how many people were in that video in danger saving two stupid people? Risk vs reward.

    Greetings Speardiver,

New to the forum and relatively new to spearfishing (been spearing for about 4years now). Out of Southern California, LA county. I will put it out there that I am a Spearboard defector. Don't hold that against me I didn't know any better. Stumbled across this forum and snooped around a bit to see if this was a fit. Looks to be good from what I have seen so far. I look forward to learning and hearing from all of you and hope I can pull my weight by bringing whatever I can to the table.

    Safe diving,
    David
