Dan you could be correct, but from what I've seen with certain pelagics once they reach a certain length they just get fatter and fatter. Virgili has a picture with a 70 pounder if you google it, seems once they reach about 5-6 feet in length they just get thicker. My uncle has a 13xx pound marlin on his wall and I can tell you its much longer than the couch it hangs above but its girth is what is surprising (insert gay jokes here)...

For the handle I used wooden dowels through the speardiver handle holes and just epoxied them into drilled holes on the handle sides. If you don't drill too deep they will never protrude or be seen. Epoxy the whole thing together for a slick hardware-less look :)

It's completed and installed, I'm about 95% satisfied with it but that's because I'm super critical of myself, function wise it's damn near perfect. However, I am not a pro at upholstery... check out the pics:

Industrial size spool of vinyl thread doesn't fit on sewing machine so I had to devise a way to wind smaller spools... "Makita makes sewing MANLY"

    Installed in the boat:

Many thanks to you and the guys around you. Be safe and try to keep it to snowball fights. How cold does it get out there? I've never heard of snow in afghanistan, everyone's always bitching about the heat.

I got a call today about a 1987 Mako 231 Tuppens edition. Needs TLC but it will be very cheap or free to get... SO, I thought I would throw my boat up here to see if anyone is interested. I bought it in AUG 2010.

1996 Proline 200 Stalker (no its not a flats boat) with 150hp Mariner 2.0 liter carbureted V6. I won't lie and say that everything works... The speedometer, trim, and fuel gauges don't work. Tach, temp and voltage do. Has anchor and a ton of line - no idea how much I'd guess 150-200 feet. Has swim platform with garelick 3 step ladder. Bimini top in good shape provides a lot of shade. Outriggers, downrigger, 6 rod holder on the engine well. I will finish the leaning post before it sells. Waterpump and prop shaft seals replaced sometime between halloween and thanksgiving last year. All lights and safety equipment work and are included. I have an engine cover for it. Engine fires right up and runs great, with 2 people and a light load I saw 42 mph on the GPS at WOT. The oil pump system does not work, requiring gas and oil to be mixed in the tank. Spark plugs and one switchbox replaced since I've owned it. Boat has a fusion AM/FM/Ipod radio and 2 7" alpine marine speakers that sound awesome. Fish box in the forward deck area, giant livewell under the leaning post. Will come with cushions and the 94qt igloo cooler that goes in front of the console. Cable steering with new teleflex zero feedback head.

2004 Continental tandem axle leaf sprung trailer. Lights work, I have the uprights although I don't like them and they are currently off. 2 new tires 2 are older but still have tread and all hold air. Spare mounted up front. I have no problem loading this thing up and hauling it to Key West (did it last fall)

Again this is a feeler to see if anyone on here would be interested. I am going to inspect the Mako on Monday and will know more then. As it is not officially for sale I am not going to list a price, but that may change on Monday.

    - I have had Dan, Lunkerbuster, Sdeisen, Shallow Runner, Brian, and Duskydiver all out spearfishing, perhaps they can provide some unbiased comments/reviews.

Old picture from when I bought it, bimini not pictured. Crappy factory seat and worn stickers have been removed.

Thanks guys! pictures edit out all of the curse words and screwups but I am slowly refining my skills. My dad deserves a lot of credit, his welding saves my ass a lot of $$$.

hardline, fish dip is easy to do and as far as smoking, the fish can be broiled or even baked and smoke flavor added although the real thing tastes best. Here is my recipe that I use - although lately I've upped the fish content sometimes even doubling it depending on how much fish I have.

And here is a very generous review of some I sent out to Aaron Proffitt

Great pics I need to get back in the water soon

I've been slacking in my diving BUT my leaning post is coming along nicely.

Started by cutting/bending/welding up the frame. Then let it sit and anneal for a couple months to regain some strength. Picked up some 1/2" starboard and cut it to fit, mounted with screws from the back. I wanted to add some rod holders so that I could remove a 6 rod holder I have mounted on the engine well... 5 more will go on the TTop that will be the next addition to the boat. Test fit it on the boat and it is awesome! Everything I could have asked for (and at only about $200). I brought it back out to make/attach a cushion. The cushion has been the most frustrating part. The pleated vinyl in the boat is no longer made, however the colors are still produced. The solution: cut up the two rear cushions that have been in storage since 1996. Ordered up what additional vinyl I will need as well as a new piece of foam. Hopefully it turns out as good as I'm hoping it does. Today I have been working on learning how to digitize an image of the 1996 proline logo so that I can have it embroidered in the teal center stripe of the cushion. Price to have an image digitized and embroidered was $110. By learning to digitize it myself (thank you youtube) it will be $12. Stay tuned for more pictures

Yes the boat is a mess, between lack of use and several projects it has gotten pretty gross. Major cleanup and deck paint coming this spring!

I got the white edition for Christmas. It is my first gopro and I don't know much about them yet, is it sufficient for a beginner or should I return it and spend the extra money on a silver or black? I don't plan on doing any crazy slowmo professional videos mostly just showing family what it is I do, and why I love it. Thanks guys.

P.S. Dan- my dad wants a black and head/helmet strap so I will be in touch in in a couple weeks.

dove around Boca today from 30-60 viz was top to bottom outside of 40. Finally broke my mutton curse and got decent lobster, overall didn't see much at all I had a grouper that would come in and out of view in 45. Seemed like id drop down and he'd swim off, I'd surface and he'd come in to see what the hell I was doing down there. Lobster went a little over 2 pounds, and tasted delicious alongside the mahi I got the other day. Surface conditions were sloppy and the viz was surprising.

I went H&L yesterday, it was pretty rough but we found mahi and wahoo in about 500 fsw if anybody is planning a bluewater trip this weekend. Water looked very clear despite how rough it was
