Need these gone they came off a Camaro SS - they were take-offs less than 100 miles. Pirelli PZero 245/45ZR20 fronts and 275/40ZR20 rears, fronts measure 10/32" tread remaining and rears are 8/32" remaining. One rear some damage on the edge due to rubbing on a G8 that they were mounted on since monday. Tires came off the original wheels today. $450 for SD members - these are $900+ from tirerack

Looking good Mike, I hear ya on pricey boat bits. The bare consoles (some used) were in the $855 to $1400 hundred dollar range for my inflatable project. I had a bunch of old resin and glass to get rid of so I built my own as well.

    Cheers, Don

It's outrageous, my grandpa always told me, "car parts = x, boat parts = 2x, plane parts = 3x". I'm quickly finding out that he was right. Don it was your build thread that motivated me put this up, I had been taking pictures along the way anyway so why not put them on here to let others see and possibly learn.

I am finally getting around to making my boat more user friendly and next up is some sort of leaning post. I shopped around for a one off piece and found prices to be typically around $500. That seemed a little outrageous to me SO I decided I could do better.

    R&D:

    Too tall...

Almost perfect, let's add the cushion and see how much it changes

    Perfect!

Bent up some schedule 40 1.5" pipe and cut the ends at 45 degrees. Notice the old seatback frame

Cut all 4 legs, the front 2 are cut at 45 degrees and the rear supports are fish-mouthed to fit underneath the top rail.

Yesterday I got some time and decided that my original design, being nearly as large as the livewell footprint itself, was just too big. I like to use the livewell lid for a seat when I'm H&L rigging. I therefore decided to cut 10" off of each leg of the big U shaped piece. Therefore shortening it and allowing me to continue using the livewell for a seat. I then grabbed some 2" flat stock and cut 2 of the 4 feet, beveled, drilled and countersunk them:

I've used them every time I've fished south texas. It slows the drift tremendously and it's fairly idiot proof. 5 gallon bucket works too.

Can't wait to see pics. How many grouper did you see this weekend because I recall you watching a couple on Saturday too...:rolleyes1:

419 lionfish died, none of them were shot by us. Viz was 35 in the morning and shut down to maybe 20 in the afternoon. We did find some hogfish though. Almost all of the fish in the derby were killed between 90-170 fsw, it was a very fun event and I'd consider doing it again. Thanks to Al, Judah and Shawn for joining me out on the water today.

It looks like there is a public boat ramp just down the street from the 15th street fisheries where the weigh in is. I will try to confirm this but for now lets make that the rendezvous point for saturday morning. what time is up to you guys. the tournament is from sunrise (approx 6am) until 5pm, I think we had decided to stop fishing by 4 and head in for the weigh in. I can be there at any time in the morning

The address for the boat ramp is 1784 SE 15th street, ft. lauderdale

I'm game for whatever, luckily these things are stationary so viz isn't too big a concern once we locate the reefline. I will register tomorrow pending your guys final judgement.

I dont have a bag I just carry shears. Tomorrow is the $100 registration deadline, do we still want to register and hope the weather improves?

I have a three prong pole spear that is 7' feet that I made, I was going to shorten it to 2-3' for use in holes. I will carry it with my gun. My plan was to drift dive with (hopefully) 3 people in the water and one in the boat, rotating out. Like Shawn said it is just a matter of sticking your head up under the rocks and finding them. Obviously if someone wants to throw out a lionfish hole we can hit it, otherwise lets let the current do the work. Judah if you can sign all of the waivers and forms and get them to either Shawn or myself so that we can turn them in at the captains meeting. I am going to wait until the 26th to register so that we have a reasonable idea of weather before we spend the money.

Speardiver brethren we need one more team member. So far it is shallow, lunker and myself. Please come support the cause, I promise we'll have fun doing it.

Judah, please PM me your full name and phone number so that I can fill out the registration next week.

Shawn - if you have a para tip I can bring you the other half of my polespear after I cut it down, should be easy to assemble the 2 and add a band.

Ok so who is in? I will register the boat before the 27th so we avoid the price jump. essentially its $25 a head plus gas. PM me your name, cell number, and I will get us registered. We can hand in the waivers at the meeting on friday night.

The waiver states that I must be a certified scuba diver... I am not. Am I still allowed to participate? Do I just leave that line unsigned?

EDIT - just got off the phone with REEF, they are going to look into how to go about signing off the waiver forms for non certified applicants. I intend to freedive so being scuba certified shouldn't change my eligibility according to the lady I spoke with. They are suposed to get back with me within 24 hours.

2ND EDIT - The general manager just called me and said non certified divers can still participate and sign all of the paperwork just like a certified diver would. We will just be listed as skin divers.
