Great pictures Dan!

Got out with Dan and Steven today form 830-130. Seas were flat but the water was pretty green, viz was 40+. Got 2 hogs, a lionfish, 22" mutton, and a grouper between the 3 of us. Dan and steven have more pics than I do.

So it looks like the handle is recessed into the blank 1/8" and it still protrudes an 1/8"? If that's correct then it's just a gigantic handle. I wouldn't say its a mistake, the lines might not be as clean but if you wanted a sleek/slim gun then that's the price you pay. It's a tool not a piece of artwork, as long as it takes fish then it's doing the job it was designed for. Great work!

mixed up some penetrating epoxy today and started coating the blank:
here's both handle side plates before any epoxy
And here's a couple with 1 coat to show the color and grain

is that near an inlet on an outgoing tide? thats how it gets around hillsboro

I only ever saw 1 or 2 episodes including the one where her Wong handle broke off and it smashed her face, but I think Greekdiver's vids are just as good if not better.

Looks like a knockoff of Sheri Daye's show. It obviously won't be any good or he wouldn't have needed the beautiful women.

Good work, lets see those pics

please make a full report WITH pictures when your done.

Has any one used a epoxy to seal the wood then top coat with a sprayed on automotive clear?
I was wondering about this as well, I know epoxy yellows horribly in sunlight. Would a clear coat keep it fom yellowing?

does anyone raise their gun out of the water as a signal? I have many times waved my gun to get a dive buddies attention and I think it might help you be seen by a boat. It also might be a waste of time??
I've done it twice and watched the boat(s) veer sharply, but both times I was in rougher conditions which allowed myself and my flag to get lost behind the swells. My back up plan was to dive beneath them if it should come to it.

Damn, glad you are OK and were aware of what was going on. I have noticed both as a boater and a diver that lots of other boaters use the obvious reeflines like streets. This is both ass backwards and stupid because that is the obvious place people will be in the water. I know that when I run the boat I don't always run out beyond the third reef but I also dont hug the swim buoys or the reef lines. I also keep a close eye out for kayakers, dive flags, and even marine life in the water.

Do you have a number or address? Google returned several potential matches. I actually got lucky and all of my cushions were in storage from day 1. Only the console seat bottom and backrest were on the boat and they were destroyed, but I'm adding a leaning post anyway so they were useless to me. Thank you for the help so far I've been dealing with Gary's upholstery(very nice friendly people) in Tampa but the phone tag and waiting for samples to go back and forth is getting frustrating.

I am making a leaning post/seat for my boat and would also like to add coaming bolsters for when I H&L. Does anyone know any good marine upholstery shops in south florida that could either sell me fabric that matches my current cushions or even make them for me if the price was right? Boat is a 1996 Proline if that makes a difference.

Welcome! I work and dive in your area
-
maybe it thinks so slowly it takes it 400 years to realize its bored and commits suicide
-
Nice addition!
-
I say go for it, do your research and ask lots of questions. If you work slow you can limit your mistakes and make a badass gun.

I have a 1/4" roundover that I planned to use but it doesnt fit in the 9/16" slot. I am hoping to do it something like this now:
