I take that back. If you know the laws thoroughly and you know for sure that what you are shooting is not protected then I can understand shooting a fish. However there are not very many that know the laws the well (the ones enforcing the laws dont even know them that well). I just dont like people who shoot then ask questions later without any clue of what they might be doing/shooting. In other words ignorance :)

My friends brother is like this, finally last week I yelled at him I think he was about to cry but I think he might actually get it. If its not illegal to shoot and you or someone else is going to eat it then I'm all for it.

I would think the risk of entanglement would be greater around the feet/fins if the fish ran under me. I don't know because I don't use that setup I just like the idea of it going through the guide at the end of the gun providing that extra separation from my body. donnell does that seem logical or is it never really a problem?

Glad to hear lots of people got out over the last couple days. Looks like the wind is going to pick up but should flatten out thurs/fri I will probably be diving both if anyone wants to join. I saw somebody on a yellow yak on the second to the north side of anglin pier where I was at. If it was anyone on here let me know that's an area I frequent.

I'm so glad I never had the misfortune of joining SB

dove today after work. wind, waves and current all picked up. current out of the north, waves around 2', unfortunately viz dropped to 20' in the best places and out on the second reef it was 15'. I dove repeatedly to see if the murk was just at the surface but even at the bottom viz was minimal. ended up finding a nice rock in a big area of soft corals and got 4 bugs. macs are very abundant in this area lately in between the first and second reefs. I got ambushed from behind by a big school of small spanish but only had a 3 prong polespear.

ive pull started a 60 and 200. 60 was cake so a 90 shouldnt be bad at all. the 200 sucked luckily we realized someone had bumped the emergency shut off switch, rectified that and went back to electric start.

Dan on your boat one battery should be fine. In the future if you have to replace it just do so with a gel battery. And again just remember to shut everything down, or install a switch. But that isn't really necessary with only one battery it would just allow you to shut everything off by flipping it. Its good redundancy I guess having the switch, I know I try to shut everything down, but I also flip the switch off.

double check to make sure everything on the boat is turned off. we see it happen at work with cars all the time and ive done it with my anchor lights. second depending on how long the battery has been sitting without a trickle charger it will lose juice but IF the battery is still in good condition a charge will do it. Like stated before allowing it to run dead and then charging repeatedly isn't good for the battery. To check the alternator you can measure voltage at the battery with the outboard off then start the motor and measure voltage at the battery again. We commonly (again in cars) see acid batteries go in 2-3 years, but I had one in my boat when I bought it that was 7 years old and still tested good. lastly I know sears can test a battery if you want to hassle with bringing it in to them.

went out after work today, viz was 30' from the surface and probably about 35-40 in all directions once below the first 5' of trash/jellyfish. water was green but the seas were flat, got 1 mac for dinner.
