OK I ordered a 1/2" (.500") ream today. I took some measurements of the inside of the tube and outside of the filler rod.... the tube ID is .495" and the rod is a true .500", grrr makes me mad. anyway after a $12 investment I should be able to completely finish this project. Hopefully sunday I will be able to pull out the drill press and crossdrill the tube for the plug welds. When the ream gets here I'll get it all finished and ready for welding and hopefully test this thing out in about 2 weeks!!!!

with a polespear do I do the same thing??? shoot it and then just ride my boogie board til it stops moving? makes me wanna shoot something big and go kneeboarding behind it

i had a lot of fun swimming around stiltsville on sunday... Iwas mostly looking out for lionfish but there were a lot of lazy snook just laughing at me.

I am diving saturday for sure and would like to try for sunday and monday too.

Judah your going to go out on the 4th with all the crazies?!?!?!?

I had heard of bill long before I had heard of this forum and can honestly say that this story touches me every time. I tell my friends that another great has been lost, and I get goosebumps just telling the story. I am very sorry for his family and friends. RIP Bill

I put new wheels/tires on my truck so Im selling the old ones. tires are michelin ltx m/s 255/70r16 wheels are chrome/steel factory gmc wheels. tires have 5-6/32" tread remaining (new they have 12/32"). I can separate them if needed. Asking $250 for everything or $200 for the tires and $50 for the wheels, but will entertain offers.

ok I just found this one and its very local to me (20-30mins.) a little expensive but I hope I can talk him down a bit. he said its an aquaterra prism, which from a quick google search looks like its the same as a perception prism. What do you guys think? I asked him about it and why hes selling he said "cuz im a lazy fuck and got a boat" he also mentioned something about smoking crack (sounded like he was serious) anyway thought id ask the experts and see what you guys thought.

where have you been hau?!?!?! im going out tomorrow and it worries me that I havent seen one of your updates in almost two weeks :@ hopefully the seas are friendly tomorrow

thats a minn kota engine mounted trolling motor, the smallest saltwater series (the rt55em) retails for $650

through a quick google search I came up with a navigator model 3500 thats 500.... still not cheap

option 1 shows the tape just wrapped around the polespear, easier but less streamlined. option 2 is more complex but more streamlined. im leaning towards option 2.

The plastic fins I spoke of originally most likely will not fit you.

Mike, I can probably set you up, within your budget, with a pair of used footpockets and used carbon blades. The footpockets are 42-44, but they fit a little looser so they might fit a size 12 foot if you don't wear socks. If I sell you something it will be a good functional fin, regardless of being used.

dan that sounds awesome, as long as its comfortable I shouldnt need socks. do you have them now??? im off thursday if you do, perhaps I could come check them out??

OK so progress has been really slow... I need a 1/2" ream (if anyone has one) but there like $30+ and I had/have fathers day, my dads bday, and the truck needed some things, plus the usual bills. anyway hopefully soon I will be able to get one and continue. until then I found a boogie board at a place called wings near hollywood blvd and it was only 15 bucks so im going to be making a diving platform similar to dans design.

back to the polespear... Ive been thinking about 2 different ways to make the grip. 1) just wrap self amalgamating tape around the tube and call it a day. the second would require cutting the tube and insert rod then wrapping the rod in tape, making it more streamlined. the weight is constant either way(I thought about that and calculated it out). let me know your thoughts guys, just fyi: time/labor arent an issue.

your TIG welding it,1/8 wall ?

yes the wall thickness is 1/8". the tube will be cross drilled and the 1/2" solid rod will be plug welded in place as well as the ends of the tube. only tig welding because we dont have a mig gun.

ok so first progress has been made: I got one end almost finished but I found out the hard way that even though its stated as 1/2" ID tube and 1/2" OD rod somewhere 1/2"ID ≠ 1/2"OD. but with the proper amount of heat and force all things are possible. just need to weld the seam and drill the band hole. on the other end its far more precise so I will be buying a 1/2" ream hopefully friday. between now and then I hope to finish the butt end and drill/tap the threads for the tip.
